White Week turned Soup Week

Normally, the week before Labor Day is my "white week", I wear my white linen pants one last time, and my favorite white jeans, and my white sandals, etc. I don't want to be, but I am a rule follower of the no white on the bottom half until after Easter. Church was wonderful on Sunday morning...of course I wore my white dress. :)

However this week hasn't turned out as I planned.

I got sick and felt HORRIBLE. I even went to the Dr. after work yesterday and no, not my beloved Dr. or Shaw Living. I just went to our family medicine practice. If you know me you realize that I had to feel pretty bad to do so. This week has turned into fluids, and soup week. No fun! :( So, out went my white. I couldn't bring myself to look decent at all this week. I mean I barely had the strength to blow dry my hair. :)

I am feeling a tiny bit better tonight though and I sat outside on our back porch with a fleece blanket (in the 90 degree humid summer weather) and watched Matt hit golf balls. Then we listened to the high school band practicing....love that sound!

I am hoping I am now on the mend, can get through tomorrow, and then will have a wonderfully relaxing LONG weekend!!!!

I have to share my favorite song this week. Meredith Andrews' new single. A-MAZING! Stunning lyrics that are very meaningful to my heart these days. I've heard her sing in person and think she sounds even more beautifully live. Don't miss out, listen!!

Hurricane Cousin Party

We got some company late last night from Destin, FL (really SW Missouri) because of Isaac. We were so excited!!

I feel pretty terrible, but that has not stopped the fun and laughter! It has been nice having our super cute girl cousins here for awhile.

We ate dinner at Jonah's tonight, then watched Pretty Little Liars. Fried green tomatoes, dinosaur braids, "amburgers", and plantation roads. What a wonderful mid-week treat!

Savoring the last bit of Summer

I am totally ready for Fall and everything that it brings. However, I am trying my best not to wish away my life and to make the most of where I am...that includes the "season" that I'm in. :) I want to savor the little things that I love about Summer....because lets face it, there are lots of things that I love about the long days and slower pace of Summertime. Matt and I made a little bucket list of things that we want to do in the next 4 weeks. Because in 4 weeks my pumpkins will be out in full force and I will be fully embracing my favorite season.

As much tennis as we can fit in.

Eat at Coosh's Bayou Rouge in Tallahassee....outside.

Have a movie night in our backyard under the stars.

Squeeze in one last beach trip.

Go on several Plantation trail rides.

Eat popsicles on our front porch.

Continue firefly watching on our evening walks. I have an obsession with them I think.

Cook out/ country music picnic.

Sonic and Blakely's park.

Visit our favorite antique store.

Braves Game/PCC trip! Eeek...I'm not sure this is going to happen (because it was supposed to be this weekend :(

We made this list on the way home from the beach a few weekends ago and I'm sure there are a few things that we will want to add to it!!! Hopefully we can fit it all in!

Cherishing the small things...

Matt and I love any reason to celebrate. All the little things are so important to us! I think that celebrating the small things can be pretty special! August 20th was our 10 year dating anniversary so we decided that we were going to re-create our very first offical date that was just the two of us. I've been looking forward to this all week!

A few pictures from our teenage years!

Our plans were to eat at the same restaurant, see a movie, and then walk around the fountain on the front lawn of main campus. That is what we did 10 years ago. I just added in a few stops along the way...Home Depot and TJ Maxx. Ha!

We did call ahead seating at Texas Roadhouse and y'all will never believe where we were seated. In the exact same booth as our first date. How fun is that? It was the perfect spot to think back and remember how YOUNG (and carefree) we were! And it was also fitting that Rascal Flatts was played quite a bit while we ate. :)Oh the memories!

We wanted to see a movie because that was what we did 10 years ago, the only difference was that it was at a new theater and there really wasn't anything playing that we wanted to desperately see. We ended up watching The Odd Life of Timothy Green. It was a little strange, but we really liked it! It was heartwarming and I may have shed a tear or two. :) Imagine that!

It was beautiful out...warm with a cool breeze. Perfection!! We walked around campus, and then sat on the front steps of Nevins Hall. VSU's campus is breath taking. We will always love it!

What a blessing these past ten years have been. I never thought in a million years that I would go away to a little school in Valdosta, GA and attend Worship gatherings at the BSU...and there meet my best friend and husband. I'm so very thankful for you, Matty!

WILW

What I'm loving this Wednesday...

We got reserved tickets this year!!! I'm excited about our seats and lots of Jacket football in the near future!

I was working on lesson plans this afternoon and realized...I've basically survived the first month of school! Praise God!

I have bluish toes right now. I can't stop looking at them after an entire summer of neutral polish. The color is called Trophy Wife. :)

Unglued. I got this on the way to the beach a few weeks ago and am LOVING it. I have been coming "unglued" more than I would care to admit over the last few months. I'm having to pace myself.

I have this little bowl of moss balls and fruit in the corner of my room. I can't see it without hearing this in my head, "But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control" and that makes me happy. Such a good reminder!

I also get this song stuck in my head every time I hear it on the radio. I think Britt Nicole is really popular with the teenage girls, but I can't help but love this song! Matt and I listened to it quite a bit on the way down to the beach.

There is another song that I'm LOVING right now and I can't find a video for it. It is by Eddie Kirkland and Laura Story...Keep Holding On. It is amazing.

We had taco salad for supper tonight...one of our favorite easy weeknight meals, and it is thundering outside!! I'm already in my comfy clothes and settled in for the night! I'm thankful that tomorrow is already Thursday!!

Oh for grace to trust Him more...

We sang this song at church this morning. It got me in the mood for some Selah hymns.

It was great to be back at FBC Thomasville this Sunday. I love our little Sunday School group. I just think all of our personalities click and we always laugh and joke around and have the best time. (Mindy if you are reading this...I am still laughing about the comment you made about Euguene's gray mustache!!!)

Did I mention that my bunny girl pup came home on Thursday night? I was so happy!

Matty has been Mr. electrician lately. :) He installed some new lights on our front porch and I love them!!

Summer Saturday

It's just been a good, long Saturday...I can just tell that Summer is coming to an end in a few weeks. Football is everything down in here in South GA and all of our high school teams had their scrimmage games last night. I am mentally preparing as many blue/gold and red/black outfits as I can think of. I love team spirit! I also updated the VSU schedule in my kitchen. I love our little alma mater...it is so special to go back and tailgate with friends. I love living close by...and can't wait until we all have kids that we bring along with us!! (I only wrote out the home games.)

Matt and I worked on some "electrical" house projects. Haha! (That's for you Jenn) I also walked next door and helped my new neighbor, Katie, decorate her house a little bit. I actually didn't do much at all. I just gave my opinion about where to hang some things. I love all of it, and to me more is always best, so I'm probably not the smartest person to ask for advice. :) I love Katie and her mom, Karen!

Jenn and Jeremy stopped by tonight too! They were in town to meet some friends of theirs for dinner. I loved getting to spend some time with my favorite Fall season!!! It was close to 11:30 when we took this picture and we were both exhausted but I love it anyway.

Keylime pie and some sweet friends to enjoy it with! I'm going to bed very thankful tonight!

Family and Destin Lovin'

Matt's Aunt Becky owns a condo in Destin and we all meet up once a year. It is one of the highlights of our year. All the Missouri family usually arrive a week before we get over to the gulf. Georgia schools start way too early.

We arrived at Destin around 8 on Friday night....just in time to sit by the pool and play games for a few minutes before a storm hit. We hung out at our condo for a while after that. It was great to see everyone!

Saturday morning we watched the Olympics a little bit, then met up for a family picture. Our color scheme wasn't really planned but ended up being turquoise, coral, and pink. It was extremely windy and a little bit rainy at this point.

We all ate lunch at our favorite, Pompano Joe's.

Saturday afternoon the sun came out and we got lots of beach time in. HEAVEN!

Matt's Granny cooked dinner for us on Saturday night. Then we went and got concretes at our favorite ice cream place, Shakes. Oh my word. Amazing always. We usually play mini-golf too, but instead hung out at Destin Commons. We have so much fun together and laugh, laugh, laugh!!

Sunday morning we got up early and hit the pool. Matt played worship songs on the guitar, then Tara sang and played. It was pretty amazing. It was a beautiful day and I was floating in the pool, feeling the ocean breeze, and singing praises with our precious family. It truly doesn't get any better. We ordered in lunch and ate by the pool.

The only downside was that I barely got to sink my feet back into the beautiful white sand before it was time to head back home. The ocean was crystal clear and like a lake on Sunday. It is also always sad to say goodbye to our family.

The great news is that Tara and Marisha are living down at the condo for the year. So, guess where we will be spending a lot of time???? We're pretty thrilled about lots of beach trips in our future!

Friendship and Service for 80 years!!

Tonight was our first general meeting of the new Junior Service League year. We met at a little studio downtown instead of our normal, Center for the Arts. I love the buzz and excited chatter that goes on during the first meeting. The collect brings tears to my eyes...and I'm always thankful to belong to such an outstanding organization with amazing women. I like to be reminded of the reasons why I'm involved with JSL.

Red Nose Run and Prom Closet are the two events that I'm so excited to help with. Believe me, I'll be doing lots with Bargain Bazaar as well. I had to talk myself out of signing up to be on the stork committee....it was really tempting. I tend to over-commit, so I was thankful when Myrna volunteered to be our class' warm and fuzzy.

We were told to wear our name tags since we have so many provisionals. I had to improvise and pin mine to my necklace.

I also love to add all of the fun community events and socials to my calendar.

Bedtime for me. I'm exhausted!
