My Countdown.

I have been counting down all week. Ready for Summer Vacation to begin. And I really am looking forward to it, my kids have been pretty wild this week. I am beginning to pull my hair out and can just feel it in my bones that I have ZERO tolerance for any type of silly or loud behavior left in me...no patience at all!

Here I was at the beginning of the week, already worn out from all the jam packed days I've planned for my babies. Smiling beacause I can see the end in sight.

Here I am this afternoon. EXCITED about tomorrow being Thursday, but also thinking that the last week is going by a little too quickly.

But now, tonight, I'm pretty sad. Words do not describe how much I will miss my class this year. They mean the world to me. I can't go 5 minutes without thinking about them. So hunker down, and bear with me, I have a feeling these last two days will be pretty emotional and bittersweet!

For everything there is a season,a time for every activity under heaven.
A time to plant and a time to harvest.
A time to tear down and a time to build up.
A time to cry and a time to laugh.
A time to embrace and a time to turn away.
A time to keep and a time to throw away.

My theme song for the year. I guess this could be the theme of my life. :) (By the way, I measure my years in school months...Matt can't stand that I do that, but to me a new year begins in August and ends in May...ha!)

Joshua 1:9 (The Message)
Then you'll get where you're going; then you'll succeed. Haven't I commanded you? Strength! Courage! Don't be timid; don't get discouraged. God, your God, is with you every step you take."

Low Country Boil, The Class of 2022, and Today!

We rushed from Thomasville to Shellman Bluff on Friday afternoon....when I say rushed, I mean that I had to COMPLETELY change all of my clothes on I-95 so we could make it to the rehearsal on time. I couldn't breath while doing so because Matt was making me laugh harder than I have ever laughed before. Haha!! We pulled up to Cooper's Point and Matt got my shoes out of my suitcase and we were both relieved that we made it with a few minutes to spare.

Then the second funny story of the night...after the rehearsal we were all supposed to follow each other to the Sutherland Bluff clubhouse for a low country boil. We followed the two cars in front of us....all the way to Darien...until we arrived at Skipper's Fish House and Oyster Bar and saw Rena, a bridesmaid, that was going to meet her dad for supper, get out of her 4 runner. We realized what had happened. I called Katie to let her know why we were late....lol....we had a good laugh, and luckily we still made it in time to eat and see the slideshow. We took a lot of pictures as were driving all over in the extreme dark!

It was really late when we found our guest house on the river. We really enjoyed staying there.

So, I wanted to also share a few pics of my classroom on the day of graduation. We always come back and have a little reception in the room, and then all the parents take their kids home.

Our buttefly and graduation magents and Mrs. Sharon decorating dangerously!

I was a proud teacher!

I was so busy leading up to graduation, that I was working on two computers at once!

Today was fun, we have Field Day tomorrow and a picnic lunch. I'm staying really busy working on permanent records as well. 4 days until summer! And wedding pictures coming later!!

Katie and Nick's Coastal Wedding...

I have so many pictures to post from our wonderful weekend on the GA coast. I'll play catch up soon with our trip to Shellman Bluff and my class' graduation.

Here are two group pictures for now....

After the rehearsal at Cooper's Point.

Brunch at the Cobb house.

The weather was gorgeous and I'm hoping that it was the day of Katie's dreams! Everything sure seemed perfect! I had a great time!! Matt had a great time playing golf and fishing too!

Now, to unpack and get myself together...I have 5 more days of school until my kids are out for summer! Hard to believe!

Just Breathe!

I had to laugh at one of my students today. He was eating his breakfast when he asked me, "Why don't you wear headbands that match your clothes?" HA! I explained that I like to pair colors that I think compliment each other well, instead of always being matchy, matchy. So I had to take a picture of my outfit today.

I needed to be comfortable and I left for work at 6:30am (and was already running late), and this outfit didn't need ironed. I actually had a navy blue headband in my purse...but since my hair is dark it doesn't really show up, and I don't like that. Gotta love my honest babies! I will say that I won't be wearing a mismatched headband with my dress tomorrow! :)

So, about my busy day. I moved furniture in my classroom and got my room all decorated for Graduation! I left school to run by the board office to fill out some paperwork, then I had a VBS meeting at church. I ended up staying and talking to my favorite ladies, Becky and LeAnn! Then I ran to Dollar Tree and Wal-Mart. I still have a few minor details to finish before GRAD day tomorrow! I will be so relieved when it is over!

Wednesday night church is always like a breath of fresh air to me. I love it!

Times of refreshing may come from the Lord...

So I put my hands up...

They're playing my song, and the butterflies fly away...Busy day back at work today!

I started yet another art project with my kids today...which is a big deal, because I consider myself a very academic minded teacher and although I love art, I don't always make as much time for it as I like. We're making butterfly magnets. I found this great poem to clip onto the clothespin.

A child is a butterfly in the wind:
some can fly higher than others:
But each one flies the best that it can.
Why compare one against the other?
Each one is different.
Each one is special.
Each one is beautiful.

(We love poetry in our classroom...so attaching a poem is perfect for my babies.)

I had to spray paint the clothespins for them. Matt went outside to hit a few golf balls with Blakely, and I got started on my own project.

FYI...Wal-mart has the cutest flip flops this season. All of the teachers at my school are sporting them. My support teacher and I were actually twins today in our matching black flip flops. I also have them in pewter (my fav). Here you go, mom...she requested a picture.

Also, I wanted to mention the book, Plan B by Pete Wilson, that was featured on Kelly's Korner.

I am going to purchase this soon. The video spoke straight to my heart and I can't wait to read it!

Looking forward to watching Idol and Glee! I just heart tv shows! I'll also be cheering on my favorite, #55, in softball!! I hope everyone had a great Tuesday. I had a big smile on my face this morning, watching some of my kids grin and run to me, when they saw I was back at school. Hearing, "You're back, I missed you! I knew you would be back today, do you feel better?" was like music to my ears. The hugs were great too. I am certainly blessed.

Sounds of Suburbia!

I love living in our neighborhood. We are in the city, but it feels like the country. I love having neighbors and seeing them on their front porches drinking coffee in the mornings when I leave for work, gardening, riding bikes, dripping wet from our pool, walking, just chatting in the street in the evenings, etc. Everybody knows who you are and looks out for you. It just makes my HEART really happy!

We had a little emergency in our house last night and Matt and I both pulled an all nighter, so we both stayed home from work today. We went to sleep at 8am and woke up around 2pm. So, we missed out on most of the day, but we went and sat outside after our lunch and just soaked in the beautiful day.

I love hearing the sounds of little kids playing and laughing, dogs barking, sprinklers turning on, the occasional car driving slowly by, and lawn mowers mowing. You could also hear the breeze in the trees and flowers today.

We are going to have a great and restful night at home. That is exactly what the Dr. ordered, literally. :) Dancing with the Stars and Tori and Dean are calling my name!

I'm saying goodbye to my endless to-do lists.

And hello to carefree days!!! Summer is just 9 days away!!

Isaiah 55:12 - You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and hills will burst into song before you, and all the trees of the field will clap their hands.

Jeremiah 15:16 - When your words came, I ate them; they were my joy and my heart's delight, for I bear your name, O LORD God Almighty.

JED

To my mama! My most faithful reader. :) Happy Mother's Day! I am so thankful to have the BEST mother in the WORLD. I also have and had the best Nanny's in the world...Nanny Jane and Nanny.

I am so blessed that we have always been very close and am lucky to call you my mama and best friend. You laugh with me and cry with me...share in my triumphs and disappointments....every day when we talk on the phone...sometimes more than once. You love my husband like your own son and mean it! :) And my "baby" for now, as your granddog! :) What else could I ask for?

The only thing that I would change would be that we lived next door to each other. Except then, having our "visits" wouldn't be so sweet, would they? I love that I have grown to have the EXACT same taste as you, that we teach the same grade, love the same things, and that we can have fun doing anything together. Anything I love, you love too...and that means so much to me.

Didn't you take me to Macon every single Sunday to shop after church? I think you did. All those long car rides to Macon, shopping trips, sporting events, and days spent by the pool will forever be some of my favorite memories. I got through College, my wedding, Grad School, and now teaching with your help, love, and guidance....and I will forever be grateful.

I love getting to finally "spoil" you a little bit and treat you the way you deserve now that I'm older. Although, you and daddy still spoil me a lot more. You gave up everything for Billy and I. Thank you!

I hope that one day, I'm as good of a mom as you've been to me! I know I tell you every day, but I love you so much more than you could ever imagine!

The Best Day by Taylor Swift reminds me of my childhood and our relationship. So listen to it! :)

I wish I was with these special people today. But my sweet mama said, "The next time that I see you will by my Mother's Day." Her mama said the same thing to her, when she lived far away and couldn't make it to see her on Mother's Day. I am counting my blessings.
