Everybody is famous...in a small town!

My husband is famous! :) He was on the Albany news this morning!! We are proud of him, b/c I would've been way too nervous to ever do that!! I know, I know, I should've watched it on our big tv...but I was in our bedroom when he called...and I didn't have time to run upstairs and grab a tape to record it, so I did the next best thing...took pictures. Luckily, he will be getting a DVD recording in the mail.

Blakely could hear Matt's voice on tv.

And you know you live in a small town, when minutes after it was over, I got phone calls telling me that Matt was on tv! Ha!!

I've Got A Feeling...

You know the song. This song describes Katie and Nick's wedding day! Maybe because it was played several times at the reception. But it was just such a fun wedding! I loved getting to be a part of it! Listen to the song and watch the slide show..I had way too many beautiful pictures to upload them all.

Matt, Blakely, and I stayed an extra day and had some family time. We really want to go back. Shellman Bluff is one of our new favorite places to get away!

Tennis and Scripture

Another great summer day. I will admit I got a little bit bored today. I've finished two books in two days. I did love watching the French Open this afternoon though. Love that clay, and summer tennis!! Venus' bloomers were a little much for me though...watch and you'll see what I mean.

As I was doing my Bible Study this evening, this stuck out to me. Second Peter 3:14 tells us to "make every effort to be found spotless, blameless, and at peace with Him." I really needed this reminder today. It is easy to get sucked into what the world believes.

I also enjoyed reading Psalm 86.
1 Bend down, O Lord, and hear my prayer;
answer me, for I need your help.
2 Protect me, for I am devoted to you.
Save me, for I serve you and trust you.
You are my God.
3 Be merciful to me, O Lord,
for I am calling on you constantly.
4 Give me happiness, O Lord,
for I give myself to you.
5 O Lord, you are so good, so ready to forgive,
so full of unfailing love for all who ask for your help.
6 Listen closely to my prayer, O Lord;
hear my urgent cry.
7 I will call to you whenever I’m in trouble,
and you will answer me.
8 No pagan god is like you, O Lord.
None can do what you do!
9 All the nations you made
will come and bow before you, Lord;
they will praise your holy name.
10 For you are great and perform wonderful deeds.
You alone are God.

11 Teach me your ways, O Lord,
that I may live according to your truth!
Grant me purity of heart,
so that I may honor you.
12 With all my heart I will praise you, O Lord my God.
I will give glory to your name forever,
13 for your love for me is very great.
You have rescued me from the depths of death.[a]

14 O God, insolent people rise up against me;
a violent gang is trying to kill me.
You mean nothing to them.
15 But you, O Lord,
are a God of compassion and mercy,
slow to get angry
and filled with unfailing love and faithfulness.
16 Look down and have mercy on me.
Give your strength to your servant;
save me, the son of your servant.
17 Send me a sign of your favor.
Then those who hate me will be put to shame,
for you, O Lord, help and comfort me.

My first day of freedom!

I woke up pretty early and took Blakely for a walk. Then I was already itching to read something. So I packed Blakely in my car (it is a treat for her to ride in the car) and went to the public library. I hadn't been going, because I thought I had a large fine. But when I looked it up online last night I realized it was only $3.00. I got there around 9 and could see people waiting outside. I looked at the hours and realized that they don't open until 9:30.

I couldn't imagine waiting 30 minutes in my car with NOTHING to do, and I didn't exactly look presentable to run into the coffee shop or any other place downtown, so I drove through Henderson's for a breakfast sandwich for me and Blakely girl. :) Any drive through you go to in our town has doggy treats that they give out when they see your pet with you in your car. I love that!

I got back to the library about 9:20 and apparently, it is the place to be, a huge crowd had gathered outside the doors and lots were waiting in their cars. At 9:30 the doors opened and I went on a hunt to find some summer reading.

I am very pleased with the outcome!

I am still hunting a few more books by Patti Callahan Henry, the newest book by Emily Giffin, Heart of the Matter, and I need to read the rest of Remember Me? by Sophie Kinsella. Dorothea Benton Frank (Lowcountry Summer) and Karen Kingsbury (Take 4) both have new books out in June too!

Matt and I are going to order in chips and salsa and watch the American Idol finale and the movie, Valentine's Day tonight! I can't wait for him to get home!!! For now, I'll be unloading the dishwasher and sorting laundry!

Sweet Summertime!

I LOVE SUMMERTIME!! What a laid back season...full of sunshine, thunderstorms, family time, rest, reading, sundresses, flip flops, VBS, cook outs, fireworks, Sonic, getting organized, pool and beach time, nautical clothing and bags, matinee movies, lunch dates, late evening walks and tennis matches, shopping with my mama, vacations, morning shows (Regis and Kelly and The View) and dreaming and planning...and so much more!

I had a great last day at school. I spent my morning getting recertified in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention...nothing like restraining fellow teachers at 7:30am. I laughed the entire time.

Then we had a vertical alignment meeting at our board office after lunch, but after we made it over there, we found out it was cancelled.

I was grateful though, because it gave me a few hours to completely organize each cabinet and drawer in my classroom. I feel so far ahead already, and am thankful to have everything in place before the new school year begins. I was also able to unplug my computers, lock my door, and know without a doubt that I do not have to go back until after the 4th of July. What a joyous feeling (last year I had to go back several times in June)!! Thank you, Jesus!

Blakely played with a friend tonight!

And we had a simple but yummy dinner. Grilled chicken, broccoli, and corn casserole. It seemed summery to me! And I felt like it was a great summer kick-off meal!

We are flipping between several shows and just loving being home together. I am very excited about The City tonight...I just love, love, love that show!

I think I might have a very lazy day tommorrow. I think I deserve it! :) I know I will definitely be sleeping in.

1 Chronicles 16:34-35
Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good! His faithful love endures forever.
Cry out, “Save us, O God of our salvation! Gather and rescue us from among the nations, so we can thank your holy name and rejoice and praise you.”

If anyone asks, not that they would, I'll been down in Mississippi and up to no good...

A little weekend recap.

We left Georgia after Matt got off work and headed to Dothan, AL to eat supper at La Parilla and stretch our legs.

Then the trouble began. It was dark, getting really late, and our GPS was taking us into the middle of nowhere. I was worried immediately, because I had map quested our route and thought that we would be going through Montgomery...Matt assured me that everything was fine, but about 2 hours later and no signs of civilization, we took a detour and headed up to Selma to get a hotel for the night.

We made it to Mississippi right before lunch on Saturday. We ate a local steakhouse, Duke's, with some of Ellen's family. The town we were in was really, really small...so it was a bit of a culture shock, even for us.

We stayed in a cabin by the lake.

The wedding was a lot of fun. My favorite part was when we headed to Jackson for the reception. The reception was on the 19th floor of the Capital Club. Downtwon Jackson was so pretty at sunset and then at night.

So come on down to Jackson...We're goin' to Jackson...:)

We had fun hanging out in the cabin Saturday night.

Then Sunday, we went hung out with Matt's dad and his wife, Ellen, for awhile. We walked down to the lake. We went and looked at Christopher and Lauran's house, and got a tour of the town too.

We left and headed to my favorite, Meridian, for lunch. We went to the cutest store ever, The Spotted Pony Boutique!

Even though the drive was long, we had a pleasant drive home, and we always have fun talking and singing on our road trips.

We are a little tired today. I got my entire classroom packed up, and already filled out and turned in my warehouse order for next year. My room looks empty and sad. I am watching the Bachelorette right now, and going over some notes for my full day of workshops tomorrow. Matt cut the grass, and we are back to our normal routine.

Still here...

I'll be playing catch up for awhile. We've been on the road again...We just got in from Mississippi. We had a rough start, but ended up having a really good time. I am about to unpack, make a salad for a little lunch that the teachers at my school are having tomorrow, then give Blakely some TLC (how I've missed her). Luckily, we didn't have to worry at all, because our good friends the Jense's, took such good care of her. She was in the care of the best! :)

One thing. I just started a book on our way to MS, called Driftwood Summer (thanks to Carrie and Bridgett). It is sooo good! Plus it takes place in coastal GA, my favorite place ever. I'm not very far into it, but it already parallels with my life. The setting takes place at the beginning of summer (think last 2 days of school) and then just describes the GA coast perfectly. I couldn't help but share!!

I have lots and lots of pictures to post tomorrow!!! Have a great Monday, everyone!
