Festive or French?

One of my sweet babies, Will, gave me a gift certificate to get a pedicure at a local nail salon in town, as an end of the year gift. I am sad to say, that I haven't had a pedicure since the summer we got married. I just will not pay the money for one, and feel that I would rather use that money for a cute new piece of jewelry or to go to the movies. I have a ped egg and I take care of my feet, but it is time. And I will not pass up a free gift!

With that being said, I love getting them! I am very excited but am in a dilemma! A hard one at that! ;)

Do I want a french pedicure, which used to be my signature go to nail design? Or do I want to get in the summer spirit and get a festive palm tree or tropical flower on top of a coral or bright pink? Hmmm...decisions, decisions.

I am grateful for the gift! It is nice to know that my student and his family, think I deserve this treat!

Oh, Happy Day!

Matt hung a very special picture this morning. We are just getting around to hanging things from our old house. Just because everything is so open here...it throws me off a little bit.

Anyway, this isn't anything fancy, but the week after we got home from our honeymoon, I knew that we needed something sort of large above our fireplace. Well, we were newlyweds, and poor ones at that, because I didn't have a teaching job yet. And large pictures are usually pricey. I was browsing one of my favorite stores downtown, Fireballs, and got an idea. I got creative and used what we alredy had! A board, some paint, an old frame, and a picture printed off the computer. I love it! Now almost 4 years later, it is good to see it hanging again. It makes me smile and takes me back to that perfect evening in June 2006, arriving at the country club to all of our friends and family!

Organization and Worry

Two big topics, wouldn't you say? We've been very productive today. We've been in a total clean up, get organized mood around here. We spent the day finally finishing up our garage...which has been a mess since we moved. It was sooo hot today, but a huge thunderstorm came our way this afternoon and cooled things off. I didn't take any pictures of our progress. But I will def. take a picture of the finished product...we have one corner left. We are also tackling our bathroom drawers, closet (it gets messy every time we get home from a trip), and our spare bedroom. I hope we get everything finished tomorrow. Just in time to begin a "short" week.

I took a few pictures of Blakely today that I thought were cute. She is a worn out pup for sure!!

I also snapped this one of cute Matty when he first woke up this morning. :) I thought it was cute!

Now, about worry. I worry about everything. I get that honestly (mama)! But it has really started taking a toll on me, and it is something I constantly battle with and pray about. I worry so much that I do not even know that I'm worrying about anything. Every sentence out of mouth can be a worry, and I won't realize it until Matt points it out to me.

I've been reading through James the past few nights and have been learning a lot about wisdom. I've been reading about how prayer is foundational to wisdom. I was also recently presented with the question, "What good is a truth if we don't know how to live it?" I've really been focusing on praying and faith.

I've heard these verses a thousand times. But I love the version in the message. They touched me tonight and I hope they speak to whoever is reading this too.

Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now, and don't get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. God will help you deal with whatever hard things come up when the time comes. -Matthew 6:34 (The Message)

Don't fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns. Before you know it, a sense of God's wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. It's wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life.
-Philippians 4:6-7

I hear another big thunderstorm rolling in. I love the sound of rain on our roof. I'm also excited to sleep in tomorrow with my husband! It's the little things in life...I am so thankful for my husband and family. They are always there for me. And most of all, I'm thankful for a loving, merciful, God, who teaches me and is my help in times of trouble.
