Say NO to the Sign Up Sheet!!

The Junior Service League year kicked off tonight. It was such a good time. I loved seeing the girls from my provisional class. The food was good, I loved the laughter and hugs, and I loved looking forward to our new year and hearing about events that we have planned to raise money in our community for children.

Matt and I before my first meeting as an ACTIVE MEMBER. Gone are my provisional days!! It was nice to get to attend the pre-meeting social/sign-up time instead of an additional meeting and rushing around. :)

I got "nominated"/volunteered for several committies tonight to serve on. I sat with my friend, Ashley, and we laughed about over-volunteering (her specialty...hence the blog title). This year is going to be great!

Here is our 2010-2011 Board.

Maybe I'll be up there in a few years. What a great group we have! I am so blessed to be a part of these women. My class and I are already planning a little "social" in a week or two. I can't wait!

Hebrews 10: 23-25
Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

8-9-10

Happy Birthday to my sweet Daddy!! My dad, mama, brother, and Ginger...are coming to visit Matt and I this weekend. They are bringing my Blakely girl home to me. And we are going to celebrate my dad's birthday all weekend long! I can't wait. I'm counting down the days.

My dad and I at my Master's graduation in August 2009. I fulfilled one of his dreams for me. :) I love him so much and am so thakful to have such a wonderful dad in my life. He is the wisest person I know. He gives great guidance and is so selfless. The older I get, the more I realize that we are exactly alike. :) Happy day to you, Daddy!

Colossians 3:15-17 (The Message)
Let the peace of Christ keep you in tune with each other, in step with each other. None of this going off and doing your own thing. And cultivate thankfulness. Let the Word of Christ—the Message—have the run of the house. Give it plenty of room in your lives. Instruct and direct one another using good common sense. And sing, sing your hearts out to God! Let every detail in your lives—words, actions, whatever—be done in the name of the Master, Jesus, thanking God the Father every step of the way.

Weekend on the Emerald Coast!

We spent the weekend in Destin with our family. It might have been my favorite mini-vacay ever. We packed so much into such a short time. It was just what I needed after a hectic 2 weeks back to work. I felt refreshed there and didn't even think about school. Every minute was pure bliss and we felt like we were in paradise.

I wanted to share a family picture. We were missing some...this was taken with everyone still in Destin on Saturday night....minus Granny and Rick. I LOVE it!

I will definitely recap and share more pictures soon.

Right now I've got to finish typing my lesson plans. Back to reality.

Psalm 62:5-6
Find rest, O my soul, in God alone; my hope comes from him.
He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will not be shaken.

Psalm 62

2 posts in one night. This song/psalm is too good not to share.

Mid-Week FUN!

I have felt so guilty this week because I have been a total workaholic. We planned to cook every night, and have...but Matt has either done it himself, or we've fixed supper together. Well, tonight Matt was working late, so I thought it was the perfect opportunity for me to have a meal waiting on him.

I had the table set, Keith Urban playing, and my new favorite candle lit. Matt walks in and says, "It sure smells good in here, but what is on your face?"

I still don't know what I smudged on myself. But I thought it was fitting..because this week has felt rushed and we've been crazy around here. I can't believe I'm sharing this picture of my "double eye brow." :)

I really have gotten tons done this week, I'm farther ahead than any other year. But it has still been very tiring.

I'm very excited that tomorrow is Friday. I've been reading a series of books to my class this week, and today we completed a class graph, to find out their favorite book. The one that they wanted a Fun Friday snack from was, If You Give A Pig A Pancake. Their other choices were: cupcakes, cookies, or muffins....all from similar books written by Laura Numeroff. Well, I never would've guessed pancakes, but that is what they wanted. So, tomorrow they will be snacking on these. You have got to love those 5 and 6 year olds!

Exodus 15:2 (The Message)
God is my strength, God is my song, and, yes! God is my salvation. This is the kind of God I have and I'm telling the world!

Plans

My plans are to stay awake long enough to watch my favorite lady. Hope the coffee I just drank helps!

A brand new season of RZP starts tonight. I am already in my pj's and am working on a few little things for school. Come on 10pm! I am definitely Team Zoe, but my 21 brand new babies have drained my energy. I am SO COMPLETELY EXHAUSTED.

Hope everyone is having a great week so far!

Psalm 34:17
The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles.

Sunday, my last "official" day of summer!

Our day consisted of Sunday School, church, working in my classroom, church (Awesome August Nights started back tonight), and then a homemade ice cream social afterwards.

Running around town...racing against time.

Loving my zebra rug. How long do you think it will stay this clean?

I probably won't sleep at all tonight, but I am going to attempt a semi-early bedtime. I've got my school bags packed, the alarm set for way too early, and the coffee pot timer is set too. I am excited to get to know my 19 new babies...it is always fun to see their little personalities once the first day jitters disappear. I teach a lot of rules and procedures the first few weeks of school and always have to be extra stern. :) I'm praying for a great day!

James 3:1b-2 (The Message)
Teaching is highly responsible work. Teachers are held to the strictest standards. And none of us is perfectly qualified. We get it wrong nearly every time we open our mouths. If you could find someone whose speech was perfectly true, you'd have a perfect person, in perfect control of life.

James 1:5-8 (The Message)
If you don't know what you're doing, pray to the Father. He loves to help. You'll get his help and won't be condescended to when you ask for it. Ask believingly, without a second thought. People who worry their prayers are like wind-whipped waves.
