Surrender?

That is what I wrote in my hand this afternoon as I was working on my last day of Bible Study for this week. I am in the middle of an in-depth study of Jonah, and I wanted to pray about what I could surrender specificially or what aspect of my life I needed to surrender to God.

Well, church tonight, was a sharing service, a team just got back from Panama City, Panama. I was so moved by the faces on the screen and by their stories. Matt and I talked and we definitely want more information on their next trip, I do know that for sure. As far as surrendering...who knows...yet? :)

Tonight when we got out of church, it was almost dark. That is the first time this year. It just felt so wintery/fally....and the sky just looked like a perfect October sky. Our church is so pretty nestled under all the oaks and spanish moss. I snapped a quick, blurry pic. But the warm glow of the lights look so inviting and the columns so pretty anyway. :)

We also had Matt's company picnic out at Camp Piney Woods this afternoon. We had barbeque for lunch, then played horse-shoes and just relaxed on a pretty day.

I ate a bagel with pumpkin cream cheese for dinner tonight. I just love this season!

We are getting ready for our week now. Back to busy, busy...you know the routine.

God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them.

Pumpkins on a Stick.

My house is being taken over by pumpkins and I love it! Even if it doesn't entirely feel like fall outside, at least it looks like fall inside.

I found these at TJ Maxx. I thought they were cute, Matt thought we had to have them! Ha! He loves a good pumpkin as much as I do:)

Today will be filled with lots of errands and phone calls trying to get donations. I'm sad to see my fall break coming to an end, but am very thankful for the break. I have done something little, but fun each day. I am looking forward to a little two day break we get in November and then a few things in between now and then.

In my devotional, Jesus Calling, I was reading about resting in His sovereignty. Here is part of what I was reading...it feels like the Lord is actually instructing you.
"Accept each day just as it comes to you, remembering that I am sovereign over your life. Rejoice in this day that I have made, trusting that I am abundantly present in it. Instead of regretting or resenting the ways things are, thank Me in all circumstances. Trust Me and don't be fearful; thank Me and rest in My sovereignty."

1 Thessalonians 5:18
Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.

Enjoy your day!!

Good Day!

Spent some time with my hubby!

Ate dinner with these two!

Road around and talked to this girl!

And listened to this song...which I love! And she's from SWGA!!

I am a happy and thankful girl today! The Lord is so gracious! :)

Psalm 103:8
The LORD is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love.

Jonah 4:2
He prayed to the LORD, "O LORD, is this not what I said when I was still at home? That is why I was so quick to flee to Tarshish. I knew that you are a gracious and compassionate God, slow to anger and abounding in love, a God who relents from sending calamity.

Shopping + Golf = The Best of Both Worlds

Matt and I were both off yesterday, so we checked out a few of my favorite stores. And I found what I have been searching for.......an ottoman tray!!! It was love at first sight for both of us (or maybe Matt was just tired of searching)! I can tell I'm getting old because my 3 favorite stores to date are 1. Mizells/The Limelight 2. Lowes 3. Gifted. OLD!

I was just trying my tray out...the set-up will most likely change....everyday. :)

After shopping, we headed to Kinderlou Forest to play 9 holes of golf (we had a rain check). Apparently Tues. afternoon is the time to go, as we had the course to ourselves, it was so calming, and the weather was absolutely perfect. I actually had a good drive. But I will leave out the pictures of my swing.

We had a gift certificate for The Ravine (Kinderlou's clubhouse restaurant). Matt wanted me to take a picture of our food for the blog. So, here is what we ate.

Late last night, I was finishing up South of Broad and sipping my coffee when I looked down and saw a huge pile of knockout rose clippings all over the sidewalk. I looked down and my rose bushes were gone! The pile made me laugh out loud b/c it reminded me of the first episode of Desperate this season when Bree goes nuts with her project and rips down all of the wallpaper. Well, Matt just went nuts with our roses and cut them all down. They look like short dead sticks now....not a rose to be seen. In his defense, I do want to dig them up, I am not a fan...at least not where they are planted. I would love to move them to the side of the house. I'll have to take a picture of the damage later today.

Enjoy your Wednesday!
Galatians 5:22-23
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

Fall Facts!

1. Do you like Starbucks? Are you a fan of their seasonal coffees?
Most definitely! Pumpkin Spice is my favorite. I also like Caramel Apple Cider and Toffee Mocha! Good thing we don't have a Starbucks in our town. :)

2. How do you decorate and prepare for fall?
Fall is my favorite season to decorate for...well that and Christmas. I put mums, pumpkins, candles, and my seasonal screenings on our porches. Yankee's Pumpkin Pie candle has been my favorite for years...but I also like to burn Harvest, Apple Cider, Caramel Apple, and a few more. I added several fall arrangements with berries, cotton, and wheat this year. I have lots of pumpkins around too.

3. Will you participate in your college's homecoming activities?
Yes, we go all out every year! We make a weekend of it, and it was actually last week. I'll post pictures soon.

4. What is your favorite fall clothing item and or accessory?
I love fall clothes!! Chunky knits, scarves, suede, distressed leather, jeans, and booties are my favorites right now.

5. What was your favorite Halloween costume as a kid?
I don't know! My mom usually always made my costumes or I'd wear an old dance recital costume. I know I was a cheerleader for the last few Halloween's that I trick-or-treated. Probably my Sleeping Beauty costume.

6. Do you like Halloween/horror movies? Do you have a favorite?
NO!!!! Not one bit. I used to like watching the very beginning of Halloween...b/c of the big houses, fall leaves, etc. Until it started playing the scary music. I am a chicken!

I do a good job freaking my own self out, I don't need a horror movie to help!!

7. What is your favorite fall activity?
Carving pumpkins on our back porch. In college we used to carve them with friends and one year we took everything out onto the front lawn. I love bonfires and Homecoming. Cowboy Ball has been fun lately.

8. What is your favorite fall recipe?
CHILI!!! I love it!

9. What TV show are you most excited about this fall?
Desperate Housewives!!!

10. When do you start Christmas shopping?
Usually around now. I do most of my shopping in November. I am not great at shopping ahead of time.

11. What do you miss most about summer?
No Schedules!!!! Being off of work. The slow pace of it. The beach!

12. What movie coming out soon are you most excited about??
Our Life As We Know It...I think that is the name. Of course, the last movie in the Twilight Saga!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Homecoming Weekend 2010

I am busy cleaning up and setting out some Fall decorations...waiting on Desperate Housewives to come on. But I realize I have been a little MIA this week. School consumed my time this week as I had BEE booster practice and meetings after school and was hard at work finishing up art contests, gifted characteristics checklists, portfolio's, and report cards. Friday afternoon, we were immediately on the road to VTown.

We had a busy weekend in Valdosta. It was Homecoming weekend and I have lots of pictures to share. I am on Fall Break all week long...so I'll have some time to update soon!

I will leave you with a picture of the 4 Seasons....at the OBU vs. VSU game. We won and it was a GREAT game with beautiful weather!

WEEDS

So, we have some really pretty flower beds in front of our school. My principal usually waters them during pick-up duty, while we are shuttling kids to their cars after school. Today we were standing around, talking, the big crowd had passed, and the cars were slowly streaming into our front circle. My principal decided that she would weed the beds. She then decided to get some help. So there we are, my P and about 4 teachers dressed up in cute work clothes, skirts, and flats, squatting in front of the pick-up line weeding the flower beds. My oh my, what duties and responsiblities we have as teachers. I really did LOVE every minute. The fall-like weather definitely helped.

Well, I got to thinking about weeds. And I truly believe that the Lord is "weeding" certain things out of my life to draw me closer to Him. And although it isn't my ideal scenario...I am learning so much and without any hindrances, growing too. I am learning to wait and be tended to by God. That is where I am supposed to be right now. :)

I am currently sitting on my back porch, listening to Matt singing worship songs and playing them on his guitar....smelling my Harvest Yankee candle that I have sitting right beside me, watching Blakely lounge in our backyard, and I am feeling the best cool breeze blowing slowly through SWGA! I mean, this is what life's about! :)
