Remembering...

and celebrating the wonderful life of Jane Anna Palmer, my sweet Nanny Jane. We all miss her so much already! All of these pictures were taken after her fall and surgery in 2009. They were from her 81st birthday celebration, her 59th wedding anniversary, and some times in-between. She was definitely a fighter!

Poppy Bill and all four of her daughters were with her when she passed away, and Poppy Bill had brought a tape of him playing his tunes for her to listen to. Her twin sister, Jan, had come to visit the day before. Mama said it was very peaceful. I wish I could've been there too.

I think I have her love for teaching, jewelery, makeup, and dogs. :)

Tuesday Thoughts

Matt did his first in-service with his new company. It ended up going really well. As he was leaving he asked, "Don't you want a picture of me on the day of my first in-service?" I guess he's used to me taking pictures of everything. So, of course I ran and grabbed my camera. :)

I really love this man. He is so thoughtful and hardwarking. I am blessed for sure!

Our fridge was overflowing with invitations. They were double and triple stacked. The side was just as bad. It has been a busy Spring/Summer with baby showers, wedding showers, weddings, and parties. Whew! Now, my fridge is organized and ready to begin a new school year.

I recently stumbled across Thomasville Townie's page. I love reading about our town and keeping up with everything. You know, since I am Mrs. Downtown Thomasville and all. Check it out HERE!

I am so glad that my dog loves to sit in the bathtub. Seriously, she is one sweet bunny girl pup.

I wonder how much longer I can keep up my 4th of July decorations without being tacky? :)

My latest books. Excited to finally read Water for Elephants. Now I'll be ready for the movie to come out on DVD.

Fourth Fun!

We spent our evening out at Remington Park here in our plantation town. The park was filled with red, white, and blue, balloons, live music, boiled peanuts, snow cones, and much much more! Our church always serves by passing out water, picking up trash, and overseeing the different booths and events that are set up leading up to the firework show. It is kind of like a community block party.

We were in charge of an obstacle course. We had a good time talking to people and I saw tons of my former students...which always warms my heart. Matt was supposed to wear the same shirt as me, but didn't like the way it fit, so he wore his church softball shirt instead...go figure! :)

Everyone sits out on the baseball and soccer fields to watch the fireworks. We met up with our friends, the Jenses. You can see Annabeth and Abigail sitting on their dads jeep watching the fireworks. We enjoyed the hour leading up to the show, just getting to catch up and snack together.

I actually held a sparkler (notice the terror on my face)! I had also fogotten about my love of diet root beer in a bottle...yum!

I made these little fun desserts on a whim when we got home! Pretty festive! Then the rain started. I am glad that it held off until after our festivities!

I hope that everyone had a wonderful 4th of July!

My Fun Week!

My Matty left for his second week long business trip this month. Still, so thankful for a JOB! :) Praise the Lord! And he won't have another one for a long time now! Here are pictures from the night before he left and when he was packing (he takes my vera hanging bag, I really need to get him his own :)).

And although I missed him so much, I was lucky enough to have my mama come and stay with me. We pretty much ate at good restaurants and shopped til we dropped!

Tuesday night we ate dinner with my brother and his girlfriend in Quitman at Coyoacan. It was so good! I forgot to get a picture!

Wednesday we ate lunch at Savannah Moon. Doesn't the heart of palm sandwich look yummy?

We went to the libray. Gotta love GA PINES. We ate at Jonah's Fish and Grits for supper. Then we painted Love what you do! signs for our classrooms.

Thursday was the only day that we bought anything. It was finally pay day for teachers. Woo Hoo! It felt like a long month! We went to a few places around Thomasville, then ate lunch at Ella Blue Cafe. We had their Sweet Potato Salad and it was AMAZING.

We picked up some sweet items from The Bread Wagon for Matt and my Dad. Then my mama packed up her car and went back to Dublin. I'm always so sad when she leaves.

However, it is always fun to look forward to her summer visits to Thomasville (I do really miss my Dad and G though). Mama/Daughter time is the best! And I am so thankful for her and every second that we get together!

Happily Ever After Party

We had a Sunday School girls night last night and I had the best time. I LOVE talking with the girls from my SS class. We were missing a few girls, but Amy, Beth, Mindy, and I had a blast anyway! I admire each girl that was there last night for sure! I'm really excited about starting a Bible Study with them this school year on Wednesday nights.

Ok, back to our night. The theme was Happily Ever After. The invitation said something like we once were brides to be...now we're living happily ever after. We each had to bring a dish that we had at our wedding reception (appetizer or dessert). We also had to bring our wedding album. I brought a mini-doughnut cake in our wedding colors of course.

Beth had Say Yes to the Dress playing, she had wedding trivia (which was super fun hearing all of our answers), door prizes, and to-go red velvet cakes for us to take home. She was definitely the hostess with the mostess!

Mainly we just ate, talked, looked at pictures, and laughed for 4 hours. We finally left an hour after it was supposed to get over because her sweet little boy, Roan, wanted his mama to tuck him into bed and read him stories. Her husband kindly took a group picture of us after he got home from the movies. I can't wait for our next get-together.

Oh, and to make my night ever better...I came home to lights on in my house, where my hubby was home from his business trip safe and sound! :)
