Giving God Your All

That is the name of the Bible Study that I'm doing these days. I am starting right now, and it is how I want to go into the "new year." Remember, each school year (Aug-May is my year, then, June and July just count as summer) is the start of my new year...it drives Matt crazy that I judge time that way. :)

These verses jumped right off the page at me tonight. These are things we need to do.

Deuteronomy 10:12-13
And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God require of you? He requires only that you fear the Lord your God, and live in a way that pleases him, and love him and serve him with all your heart and soul. And you must always obey the Lord’s commands and decrees that I am giving you today for your own good.

Deuteronomy 30:2
Return to the Lord your God and obey his voice...with all your heart and soul.

The study posed these questions...Are we unfailing in giving God what we owe Him? Does our heart belong to Him? Do we give Him all the glory? What about our lives--do we live for Him?

Because one day we will have to give account for every careless word that we speak.
Ecclesiastes 11:9
Young people, it’s wonderful to be young! Enjoy every minute of it. Do everything you want to do; take it all in. But remember that you must give an account to God for everything you do.

I truly needed this reminder tonight.

Guess what I did today?

I "unofficially" went back to work. I moved my furniture back into place and put up new fabric/border on my bulletin boards. Hopefully, I'll get a lot accomplished after a good half day spent up there tomorrow. I feel like getting everything ready becomes like an addiction to me if I'm not careful.

*Special thanks to my handsome helper. He was a good sport and I couldn't have gotten so much done without him. :) We were working by lamp light because they turned the lights off around 7pm. Good thing he loves me so much. My quote for the night was, "It doesn't have to be perfect, but it has to look perfect." Hmmmmm...me, hard to please? NO WAY! :)

Old and New

Two things make me so happy this week.

1. My old loves, the USA Womens Soccer team are playing in the World Cup, and it is actually on tv. *Memories of my ROLE MODELS and the 1999 FIFA WC are running through my mind. What wonderful athletes and women are these players. It is such a priveledge to watch them play! Surprisingly, I still know a handful of them! US US USA!!!

2. The series finale of my new all time favorite show is on this Friday Night. I'm sad that the show is ending (because in my mind it is real), but excited to see how it all ends. I'm hoping for lots of closure. I want all the characters to come back. And I want the East Dillon Lions to win STATE. Hmmm? I hope I get what I want!

My Summer Days

I've spent my summer days like this...

My sweet friends came to visit me. I've been trying new recipes. Hanging out with my hubby watching our love, Friday Night Lights. Getting things in order to begin a new school year(I'm changing my colors up, because I woudn't surive without a change...thankfully they still match my curtains). I'm enjoying my days off and am in shock that after this week, I have 2 weeks until reality. :)

Visitors

I've had some visitors the past few days. My Annabeth and Abigail have been hanging out at the Whelan house during the day. They are such great, grown up girls. I can't believe how much they've grown in five years. Both girls will be at the middle school next year. Has it really been that long since I was Abby's student teacher in kindergarten???!!! They brought me a few sand dollars to decorate with that they found at PCB.

They even helped me fix supper last night!

Remembering...

and celebrating the wonderful life of Jane Anna Palmer, my sweet Nanny Jane. We all miss her so much already! All of these pictures were taken after her fall and surgery in 2009. They were from her 81st birthday celebration, her 59th wedding anniversary, and some times in-between. She was definitely a fighter!

Poppy Bill and all four of her daughters were with her when she passed away, and Poppy Bill had brought a tape of him playing his tunes for her to listen to. Her twin sister, Jan, had come to visit the day before. Mama said it was very peaceful. I wish I could've been there too.

I think I have her love for teaching, jewelery, makeup, and dogs. :)

Tuesday Thoughts

Matt did his first in-service with his new company. It ended up going really well. As he was leaving he asked, "Don't you want a picture of me on the day of my first in-service?" I guess he's used to me taking pictures of everything. So, of course I ran and grabbed my camera. :)

I really love this man. He is so thoughtful and hardwarking. I am blessed for sure!

Our fridge was overflowing with invitations. They were double and triple stacked. The side was just as bad. It has been a busy Spring/Summer with baby showers, wedding showers, weddings, and parties. Whew! Now, my fridge is organized and ready to begin a new school year.

I recently stumbled across Thomasville Townie's page. I love reading about our town and keeping up with everything. You know, since I am Mrs. Downtown Thomasville and all. Check it out HERE!

I am so glad that my dog loves to sit in the bathtub. Seriously, she is one sweet bunny girl pup.

I wonder how much longer I can keep up my 4th of July decorations without being tacky? :)

My latest books. Excited to finally read Water for Elephants. Now I'll be ready for the movie to come out on DVD.
