Summertime Style

and I literally just shut the door to my classroom. I have never been more ready for SUMMER VACATION! And I mean NEVER!!! Yay! I am all about keeping it simple this summer. After my friend B's wedding this weekend, my goal is to not fix my hair much at all.

I have these wedges and they are super comfortable and match everything. I got them from TJ Maxx several months ago. Plus, I am a lover of straw!

My mama got us these earrings to cheer us up about a month ago. Mine are the gold ones and hers are the silver. I love John Wind and a classic knot. :)

I just caved and ordered this together forever necklace from a teacher friend. :) I think it will be perfect this summer with tank tops or sun dresses.

Target's Webster collection is AMAZING. I love all the prints...they are so very tropical! If I could, I would own every piece. Matt would just love that, let me tell you! Ha!!

I also still love antying nautical. There is a purse at a little shop in Tally with my name on it! I actually have one sort of like it from the summer I got married (2006) so maybe I should just pull it out and see what I think. ;)

Happy Summer Break!!!

Our Memorial Day Weekend

I'm beginning to add touches of red, white, and blue around our house and I'm loving it!!

Saturday night we had a spur of the moment date night...sometimes those are just the best!

Sunday it felt great to be back at church with our church family. It had been a while. Matt's dad came to visit Sunday afternoon, so after church on Sunday night we ate a yummy family style meal.

I had to work today. But I love a good teacher workday. :) We had a luncheon at another elementary school and Laura Ann brought me a fun treat! I love my necklace!

I LOVE a rainy south GA night and that is exactly what we are having right now. We grilled out for Memorial Day with Mike and Ellen! Now we're just having a quiet night at home. It is much needed!!!

Quiet down before God, be prayerful before Him...

What to Expect

I just got back from the movies with my friend Gini! We had planned to see What to Expect When You're Expecting way back in February or March. We finally got to go tonight! I LOVED it! Go see it! It was funny and heartwarming! There were several parts that hit very close to home for me and I just enjoyed it so much! I also loved girl talk afterwards, as always!!!

"It's still a little bit a lot...AMEN!"

I am quoting Beth Moore here from the James study that I completed in March....just in time to prepare me for the current season that I'm in. :)

I am just an emotional basket case today....well it really just started around 4:30 when I was driving home from school. Did I mention that other than post-planning, I am officially on SUMMER VACATION (Woo Hoo!)???? Here are some pictures that I took of A8 and A6 teachers excited about a break! And of course I had to add one of Mona doing a goodbye dance! Ha!

I just have so much swirling around in my mind today. I woke up and immediately thought...it is Friday. 3 Friday's ago I found out that I wasn't going to have a baby anymore. I think the same thing on Tuesday's....__ Tuesday's ago I was having a D & C. It is funny how you sometimes measure time by particular events that happen to you.

I got so much done at school today including rearranging my furniture for next year and permanent records...THANKFUL!! I was so sad to say goodbye to my babies, but I didn't cry. However, I will miss them with my entire heart! I've already had one parent text me for a summer get together because their child cried on the way home....that makes everything worth it. :) This has felt like the longest week ever. It has been really fun, but BUSY and a little bit stressful...and A LOT TIRING! :) I was thinking about my year on the way home. I am such a reflective person!

It was my best year in some ways. I think I had a great class and I taught my heart out...my kids were brilliant this year. I was able to serve on our school leadership team. I got to be the model classroom for technology. My county paid for me to add on an endorsement. We had a lot of new teachers and it was fun getting to know them. My support teacher and good friend took a new job, and then I got another great support who has now become a good friend in the middle of the year(unfortunately she is now retiring), and the list goes on and on and on....then I think of how I ended the year. I missed so much school and felt behind because of it, I experienced first hand how supportive my administration is of me, and realized what a great support system I have in my school family. I wonder if I glorified God throughout this year? I tried my best to serve my fellow teachers, be a role model for my students, and shine for Him and His glory. I hope that others realize and know how and why I'm able to still be joyful and work so hard even during these last few tough weeks. I feel a lot like the lyrics in Christy Nockels' song "For Your Splendor" lately. Even though it is painful to have to be pruned and grow in front of everyone, I know that I am still standing because of my relationship with the Lord and because of His faithfulness to me. I know that my season is coming and I am hoping that it will all be for His splendor. Matt thinks that I've been so busy and had so much going on the last few months that now that I finally have a minute to sit back and think about everything, that it is all sinking in. I don't know. But I did get this book yesterday at RayAnn's. It just caught my eye. I feel like the Lord is wanting me to be still (I told Matt that last weekend). He is teaching me about joy and showing me what it means to truly be heart broken for others and also to be unashamed in who I am in Him. I've already started reading it and I like it so far.

Speaking of Christy Nockels. If you're a big fan of her like me, or just like her music...here is a great article that came out this week. I loved it!

We met my brother and his fiance, Miranda for Mexican on Tuesday night. So good and fun!

What a random post! Oh well, I feel better now! I'm off to a movie with a friend! Happy Friday!

Atlanta Weekend and Passion City Church

You know how sometimes it just feels like you need to get away? That is exactly how I felt Friday night as we were drivng through downtown Atlanta. The fast pace, the bright lights, and the huge city just felt like a good change for once.

We spent our weekend with Matt's side of the family. Saturday morning we headed over to the Marietta Square, went to some cute shops, and ate lunch at Gabriel's (Paula Deen's cousins restuarant, I learned). Luke wanted me to ride in the back of the van with him. And with headphones on. :)

Saturday night we had a graduation party for Luke, as he just graduated pre-k. It was fun! We spent most of the evening outside playing with his new water gun!

Now...all week we had talked about possibly going to Passion City Church on Sunday. Matt even called the church to see if Christy Nockels would be singing. They said that they had no idea, and never really knew if she would be singing each week. I was convinced that she wouldn't be singing b/c I thought I read on twitter that she sang the week before. But I still felt led to go. We decided to only go if Matt's family didn't want to all go to church together. Saturday night, everyone decided either to sleep in or go to their separate churches....so Matt and I decided that we would head to PCC!!!! Eeeeek! I was beyond thrilled and NERVOUS!

Sunday morning I woke up early and checked the PCC facebook page to see a post saying that Kristian Stanfill (who I liked) would be leading worship. I also sort of figured that the message would be geared toward regular members of PCC because they had just celebrated their 1 year anniversary in their new building and the latest series was called, In our House. I knew that they were going to be baptizing people too. So I told Matt that I just didn't think the service was going to be for us, but yet I felt led like never before to go to it. So, we went.

As we pulled into 515 Garson, Ever Lifting was playing in our Tahoe. I was so excited to see the freedom hand that I'd heard so much about during Passion in person. The Atlanta skyline was beautiful in the background. We got a close parking space and we sat very close to the front. It was crazy, I didn't feel like I was at church, but like I was at a big conference (and we've gone to plenty of huge, contemporary Atlanta churches in the past), although the church wasn't nearly as big as I thought and it was very simple, not showy at all. I loved it, and was kind of hoping to see the Nockel's family. :)

After Kristian and the PCC choir came out, I almost passed out...because my FAVORITE WORSHIP LEADER EVER was standing right on stage with them. Oh yes, the tears began to flow. I cried the entire time. As a matter of fact I had a huge headache afterwards. But even Louie said that if there was a dry eye in the house that you had better wake up! :) I cried because I was sooooooo happy. I was so happy to hear her lead worship in person, and to watch her too. :). I couldn't believe that the Lord would bless me so much and just put it in my mind that I needed to attend this certain church on that certain Sunday. I was so overwhelmed over the gift of hearing her sing and worship with her. Y'all. I knew many of the songs, but there were several new ones that just brought me to my knees. The words were so powerful and so true in my life right now. It felt so good to be worshipping in such a huge place, where no one knew me. Where I could sing loud, raise my hands, and just cry without everyone wondering what in the world is going on with her. You know...because that is what often happens in our small town church (which I do love with all my heart). But I just needed a little change. Something fresh and contemporary. Somewhere big. I always liked Kristian, but now I love him. He was awesome!

The Lord spoke to me through every single song. And every precious note that I heard Christy sing. He spoke to me through the short little sermon that Louie Giglio preached. He spoke to me during every baptism. Matt and I loved hearing the story of each person that was baptized. Each persons story was shared...there was so much hope and such a great energy! I loved every single second! We were blessed to be in a special service that lasted over 2 hours. The band played, some people were baptized, the band played again, Louie spoke, more people were baptized, and then the band played AGAIN! I can't wait to go back. I kept telling Matt that I didn't want it to be over.

And you know I wanted to take a picture more than anything. But I felt funny taking one during worship. I felt like I was at a concert, but I wasn't. It was still church to me. Afterwards, we walked to the stage. Christy was just standing there by herself worshipping. Church was over, and she was praying and I couldn't stop watching her. I want to have a spirit just like her. She is such a wonderful leader in that church and such a Godly example to so many. Some girls had their cameras out snapping pictures of her. Again, I wanted to but I just felt like I couldn't. Matt did take a picture as she was walking off the stage. I also "borrowed" a few that I saw on twitter yesterday. I just wanted to remember the moment. :)

I read this article today about Christy's song, Ever Lifting. I loved this quote from Christy.
"When the songs were in the beginning stages, I would pray and ask God to show me the people who needed to hear the truths I was singing. I asked Him to show me the strongholds that He wanted to break in people's lives and I would literally pray for His healing and His power to be sown into the songs from the very beginning.

The sweetest thing for me was when I recorded the vocals months later, I kept having to stop as my throat was closing up because of all the tears. I would remember the prayers that I had prayed into the songs as I began writing them and now I was praying as I was singing the vocals.

Truth was being sown into every part of these songs. It changed me forever as a songwriter and I'll never make records the same again. God knows who needs it. He knows whom it will speak to. He knows that the right song, in the right mouth at just the right moment can change the world. He knows the drawbridge of someone's heart is going to slowly lower down through these very songs. He ordained it. It's His; I'm proud to carry it, but really it's His to promote and His to do with as He pleases and I trust Him with it. It has been one of the greatest joys of my life to be a part of it, so I thank Him. I'm at rest and without striving or seeking for something more, I simply open up my hands and my heart and hand over to the world Into The Glorious."

This is evident in my life. I feel like all of her music, especially Into the Glorious, and Glory Baby was written just for me and this season of life that I'm in right now. But as I look back, I realize that her music has always touched me like this. I forgot that not only did we play lots of Watermark at our rehearsal dinner (More than you'll even know), but two of our dear friends sang a song that her and Chris Tomlin sing together (Take My Life) at our wedding. The Lord has used her music to teach me and help me so much. Every single song that I listen to speaks to me. Even if it is the same song for the millionth time! Ha! I am so thankful for that!

What a GLORIOUS weekend!!!

Psalm 18:1
I love you, Lord; you are my strength.

It's OVER, Revenge, and a Root Beer Back Porch

Well, it's been a long and fast year of gifted classes. I am so happy to have my gifted endorsement and be finished with lots of extra work. :) But I am going to miss the friendships. Of course, most of the women in our class teach in our county, but they are all at different schools. Then there was the Miller County group and they were hilarious. I worked very hard on every project, article review, and test...even when I didn't feel like it. :) Our final project was a case study where we had to test a student for gifted in our spare time. I made Matt take a picture before I left for my final class. He laughed and said that I looked like I was showing how strong I was. :) I felt like that was fitting because it took a lot of strength to get through these last few weeks of this case study and our big certification test, it obviously hasn't been an easy few weeks (and I even made a perfect score...surprisingly...on my test!).

We met at Longhorn for our final class. I loved our fun group of teachers! I think that most of us will be teaching gifted next year. I am really grateful for my school system for paying for this!

Do y'all watch Revenge? It is one of our shows that we watch, and this week was so sad to me! Jack's dog, Sammy, reminded me of my Ginger.
:( I cried and cried!

Matt and I have been trying to plan a back porch date with root beer in a bottle since Sunday night. Somehow we started calling it a root beer back porch. Well, this week has been busy and we have been tired and getting home late each night. We finally made time for our root beer back porch tonight. A storm was rolling in and the breeze felt so good! We seriously live on our porches.

I'm going to end this post with a verse that Matt texted me today. It made my morning!
