Halfway there! 20 Weeks!

I actually had two appointments this week. We found out that Baby W is a girl on Monday morning and then had my regular appointment on Thursday afternoon. Dr. M usually always finds the heartbeat right away with the Doppler. Well, on this particular day we were just chatting like always when she placed it on me...then silence. It felt like 30 minutes, but it was really probably only 5. I was looking straight up at her face and she was looking down at my stomach moving it around, and around, and around. She was so calm, so I coudn't take my eyes off of her. Her calmness helped me not freak out. I didn't look at Matt or even think. I just stared thinking if something is wrong I will see it on her face. We heard my heart beating, but not our baby girl's. It was so scary because we had just seen her and she was fine! FINALLY, we heard the heartbeat beating 152. We listened for a long time after that. I guess she was just moving all over the place, but it was truly scary. I was reminded how grateful I was to be in a little exam room with two people that know and care me. And that that with the Lord's help, I can handle anything.

Dr. McCollum knows I like a plan so she told me at my next appointment she would start measuring me (thankful she prepared me ;))....and then 2 weeks after that do some bloodwork since I'm Rh Negative. Then 2 weeks after that do my glucose test. Exciting things to come!

Best moment this week?  Finding out what we are having...so special! Getting to tell my Dr that we were having a GIRL!

Miss anything?  Every now and then I miss cold sandwiches. Or even hot ones. I'm sure it's fine, but no lunch meat at all for this mama to be.

Movement? Not yet, I mean I think I may have a felt her at church Sunday night? But I'm still so encouraged by my Dr who reminded me that she didn't feel hers until 22 weeks.

Sleep?  Did I mention that Matt got me a pregnancy body pillow. I think he likes it more than me. :) I've still been sleeping well, just waking up early.

Cravings?  FRUIT! I've moved on from apples and now love strawberries and grapes.

Sickness?  I just have to stay away from Mexican food. I hate that because it used to be my favorite.

Other symptoms?  None

Gender? It's a GIRL!

Looking forward to? Getting the nursery ready. Matty deciding on a name.

So little time!!!

Y'all this week is flying by and I am soooo, so tired! It's Bargain Bazaar week and that means that I spend any free time I have up at the fairgrounds. SO TIRED but have had some fun chats with sweet league members! Here's a quick update!

Look at this precious dress I found as I was going through the children's department!!

And baby girl Whelan is being spoiled already! Sweet co-workers and students are very thoughtful!

Our Women's ministry kicked off our Spring Bible Study on Monday night. It is Nehemiah by Kelly Minter! I'm so thrilled and love it so far! I also think the red velvet cupcake that I had at our kick-off dinner was the best one I'd ever eaten. :)

Our crib came in!!!

I've started choosing paint colors for the nursery!

It has been so hot I've been wearing flip flops every day...in January. Makes me have Spring Fever!

Private Practice is over. I am so sad, I wasn't ready for it to end. When Violet decided to name her book Private Practice I cried...hard. Pregnancy hormones? I really don't think so! I am that attached to my shows and truly believe that they are real. I will especially miss Dr. Addison Forbes Montgomery. :)

I was invited to my very first Kelly's Kids party. Y'all I texted Matt and said that my dreams had come true! Haha!

Last week was busy at work. It was the 100th day of school for us, the Sweet Grass Mobile Dairy came to visit our school, and we had Snow Day! Oh my!!

Coming soon...Gender Reveal pictures, updates on the 20th and 21st week of pregnancy!

Tickled Pink!!!

Monday was one of the happiest days of our lives I think. It was so much fun. Tiring, but fun! We got to the Shaw Center around 8:00. I look so nervous! Wondering if we were going to find out that our baby was a baby boy or a baby girl. Or if we'd even get to find out at all. Matt wanted to pray for me and my nerves before we went in, but I just asked him to pray for me silently because I knew I'd start crying and be a mess if I heard the kind words that he was praying.

We just sat down, when the ultrasound tech that we LOVE, the one that we had been hoping for, the one that I lost sleep over because I thought that I needed her to be the tech that we saw, opened the door and called us back. That was all it took for the tears to start flowing. Ha! As soon as we sat down in her room, Matt said, "We prayed that we would have you!" Oh how I love that man! He was telling the truth though! Immediately we saw the baby and heard the heart beat. It was 143. Christy told us that the baby was currently breech and also asleep. The legs were folded up and she couldn't tell what the gender was...but she was confident that the baby would move and we would be able to tell. This is my favorite picture...I was in awe of what I was seeing on the screen and just so thankful that everything was looking good. Matt took it and I didn't even know it. (I cropped it for the blog) I will cherish this photo forever!

She was just naming different organs and chambers of the heart, when all of a sudden she said, "You're having a baby girl!" We couldn't believe it! The timing of the way she announced it shcoked us even! She said that she was positive...believe me...Matt asked several times! Haha! Baby girl kicked out her legs and we were able to tell that our little Baby Whelan was definitely a girl. I've always wanted one of each, but knowing that I'm having a daughter just makes me want to cry tears of joy! God chose to bless us with a daughter first. How special! The ultrasound lasted about 45 minutes and she took about a hundred pictures! I loved every minute!

On the drive home we already had missed calls and texts from family and friends wanting to know what we were having and if the baby was healthy. Matt and I just kept saying to each other we're having a girl. Can you believe that we're having a daughter? It was a sweet time, because other than Christy our ultrasound tech, we were the only two people on earth that really knew what we were having. I just relive that morning in my head over and over. :) I framed this immediately!

After that we rushed home to get ready for our gender reveal party!! Pictures coming soon!!

Baby Whelan...

IS A GIRL!!!

Everything looked great today! We are sooo thankful, surprised, and overjoyed!!!

Not for a moment will You forsake me...

I can't sleep! I have so many thoughts running through my head. Will my baby be healthy? Will my baby be alive? Awful thoughts. Anytime I have an ultrasound thoughts from May 5th run through my head. I do much better with surprise ultrasounds. :)

But...I have hope and the words to this song give me peace. I trust Him. He has always been faithful.

Lean on, trust in, and be confident in the Lord with all your heart and mind and do not rely on your own insight or understanding. -Proverbs 3:5

Let's talk NURSERY

Since we bought our house in 2009 we have called a certain little room in our home the "nursery". We didn't even put anything in it for about a year because we knew what we were going to use it for and we didn't want to take it all out. Now it has very minimal in it. A twin bed, a nightstand, and a dresser. We really needed the extra bed for when all my family visits and for when the seasons stay. :)

The nursery is small! We will have a crib, dresser as a changing table, chair and ottoman, and a little side table. Matt wants to leave the bed in there. And there is a very slight chance that we might...I wish we could. However, I just think it will be too tight in there with not enough floor space if we do that. So we are planning on moving it up to the bonus room for a few years. Here it is now...

If we keep the bed in the room. The bedding looks similar to this and we would monogram the shams like this. We would also buy the headboard/footboard that matches the crib.

I didn't think we were going to find out what we were having so I was planning on doing all tan, white, and cream. I still am going to use those colors but tie in either pale blue or pale pink.

Here is what I know for sure we are doing...

This is our crib boy or girl.

We will paint stripes on only the wall that the crib is on. If we decide to do tan stripes, then we will also paint the ceiling pale blue or pink.

We will have long panels for curtains in a pattern that is the same colors as the bedding. I love mixing patterns. I just want them all to be light blue and white, pink and white, or tan and white.

I would love a different patterned rug in the same colors, but not sure if we will end up getting one. I have to look at the bedding, curtains, and striped wall together first.

Here are some ideas of dressers and gliders. We know we want the dresser to be white and have similar lines as the crib. Do you see those polka dot chairs?? I LOVE them! However, I'm going to be smart and stick with a solid neutral color that I can hopefully use again. I will just add some fun pillows.

Soon I'll share lighting, wall decor, and bedding options!!!! Have a great Saturday!

A Note and Hydrangeas

Y'all what a loooong week this has been! Thankful for a 3 day weekend! We've got supper cooking, I'm in my pj's and we're catching up on some of our favorite tv shows tonight! A perfect chilly Winter night!!

Two sweet blessings this week...
My A-mazing friend, Carrie Beth, sent me an encouraging note this week. I texted her and thanked her for the tears!! Haha! I have been really nervous about the ultrasound coming up. I just read this every time I start to get knots in my stomach and feel the fear creep in. :) Getting mail is so fun. I REALLY WANT to start sending out encouraging cards.

Hubs surprised me after probably the longest work week of my life...really. Light blue hydrangeas (my favorite) since we sort of think we're having a boy...with some light pink bows tied in...just in case it's a girl!!! I love him!

I am just so grateful for the current season that I'm in. He's Ever Lifting!! :)
