The Luck of the Irish

It's that time of the year. The month that I wear green almost every day. I'll always be true to my hometown and their traditions...even 3 hours away. We have some fun little Irish touches here and there in our house. Although, I'm very into Easter decorations right now, so I only have St. Patty's Day decor in my breafast room, guest bath, and on the front door. BUT I do have lots of green everywhere in the house...so that counts.

A season baby and a roadhouse date!

Friday was a special day because our first season baby, Karlynn Katherine Swain, was born. Our very own Fall Season, Jenn, became a Mommy! Jenn was actually induced and Karlynn was born on her due date! Isn't she precious?

CB, Matty, and I met up at SGMC around 6 to visit our first seasoning. :) Of course we had to bring "Birthday Cake" cupcakes from SmallCakes. Yum!!

Jenn was feeling great and Karlynn was adorable!!!

Afterwards we had a Texas Roadhouse date. I have been wanting that for about 7 months. So, I was pretty excited! Their rolls are the best!

It was whirlwind visit to Valdosta, but so much fun, and so worth it! I also took a few pictures of the beautiful VSU campus in Spring. We hope to get over there for a baseball game soon. Even though Hopper Hall (the dorm that I lived in for a year) looks different now, it still brings back such good memories!

My days, these days.

So I have a student teacher. An awesome one at that. She is doing a great job and has taken over my job for the next month or so. Y'all not teaching all day makes me TIRED! Most days I'm locked in our conference room with 2 other teachers that have student teachers and work really hard on updating our curriculum notebooks and making common assessments, etc. Sometimes I get pulled to sub if a lot of teachers are out. I thought I'd document my days.

Lots of kindergarten notebooks being put together.

The wing that I'm on has the worst tasting ice. So before I leave my wing in the mornings, I make sure and fill up my tervis.

I am thankful to have a little break from my normal routine for awhile. I think I'll go back feeling refreshed for the last month of school!

Matt's Birthday!

I'm a little bit late blogging about this! Matt turned 31 on February 22nd...the rainiest day of the year I think! I don't have a lot of pictures but we did some good celebrating!

I woke him up with breakfast in bed (pancakes with a candle in them), which has become a little tradition. Poor Matt though, it was pretty early when I handed him his breakfast. He just held the plate in bed with his eyes closed and said, "Just let my eyes open up." Lol! Then I gave him his goodies and presents. His favorite gift was his big ol' tool chest. I was proud of picking that thing out at Lowe's by myself.

After work, we planned on staying in town and going to dinner and a movie. His choices. He wanted seafood, and we had just eaten Jonah's with my family the week before, so we tried out our new Red Lobster. We had to wait in the rain for a while. So...we missed the movie. We took this picture under the umbrella!

Matt requested chocolate ice cream cake so that is what he got! Abigail actually braved the rain with me to go pick it up. She didn't mind though because she got a free ice cream treat out of it. :)

Then, last weekend his Dad and Ellen came over and grilled steaks and ribs for his second birthday dinner. They actually brought him a mini ice cream cake too.

My hubby is one amazing man. I am just so thankful for him and can't get over how much more I love him today than even when I married him almost 7 years ago. He spoils me and works so hard for our little family. He makes everything fun, is so thoughtful, and is the leader that I need him to be in our relationship. I could go on and on and on. I'm grateful for every year we have to celebrate together! Happy Birthday Matty!

25 Weeks!

Best moment this week? My appointment yesterday and Dr. McCollum telling me that our baby girl was very active and that she kept kicking her! When she finally found the heart rate it was about 162. I loved my entire appointment yesterday actually. I was measured for the first time and Dr. McCollum said that I was measuring perfectly. We did the antibody screening yesterday to make sure that I'm still Rh Negative...that way I can have my shot in a few weeks. I've been coughing like crazy so I took my huge tervis of water in with me, and they were thrilled that I was drinking because they know me and my veins. Of course I still ended up having blood drawn from the hand. I also got my ORANGE glucose drink. I have that test in 2 weeks. I'm hoping the orange won't be bad to me since I've craved orange flavored things this pregnancy. Actually, getting the drink made me crave an orange Fanta. So I treated myself today and stopped by Sonic after school.

Miss anything? Not right now. I'm feeling great!

Movement? All the time. I've been sick and coughing so much lately that I've been worried about not feeling her very much the past few days. Ever since my appointment I feel like I've felt her nonstop. I'm thankful for that.

Sleep? I've had to basically sleep sitting up the last few nights because of bronchitis...not pregnancy though.

Cravings? Orange juice and key lime pie frozen yogurt. I've just been wanting cold things to soothe my throat.

Sickness? I hadn't been feeling great since Monday but thought it was just allergies. Then I thought maybe a sinus infection. Well, I felt really bad before my appointment yesterday, when Dr. McCollum came in I said, "Diagnose me!" She went and got her stethoscope and felt like whatever I had was turning into Bronchitis. So, last night I took the first medicine (I haven't even had one tylenol) that I've taken this entire pregnancy. I was nervous, but I don't want to get worse, and my Dr. is amazing and obviously knows what she's doing. I feel a lot better today too other than being so sore from coughing my head off!

Other symptoms? I feel like I never have any typical pregnancy symptoms. However, I'm sure they're coming! I guess not liking Mexican food at ALL is a symptom. Yuck. I can hardly type those words!

Gender? GIRL!!

Looking forward to? Working in her nursery a little more this weekend and just lots of exciting things going on in March!!! March and April are the busiest months ever for us!

Seeing Stripes!

We've made some progress on the nursery! We bought our dresser and side table from a little antique store in town on Saturday. I can't wait to give the dresser a make-over. We first spotted it almost 2 months ago. We loved it and the price...but I sort of thought I wanted a new dresser for the nursery. I searched every place imaginable. We also made stops in numerous little shops and looked on Craigslist. I was so excited that our initial favorite was still at Toscoga this weekend. I almost didn't buy a side table because I have one at home that I could've painted, I just hated to move it from where we have it now because it is perfect there. Well, Matt fell in love with the side table and thought that his daughter had to have it to put her books underneath. I love it too! Blakely makes me laugh. Her new thing is moving into the front seat when we run inside somewhere really quick. I guess she didn't like having to ride in the back with the furniture. OH, she is one spoiled pup.:)

Matt worked so hard this weekend and finished the striped wall! The stipe colors are natural linen and blush white. They look beautiful. I'm planning on adding a wooden monogram to the wall and painting it either pearl pink to match the ceiling or a bright white color. If I think it is too much, I have a back-up plan for the monogram! :) We love the way it turned out! Way to go Matty for working on such a tedious project!

Blakley and I hung out and watched Matt measure and tape. Country music and rain were the perfect things to listen to as we watched/worked. :)

Our favorite room in the house is coming along!

Thursday Treats!

We've gotten some fun treats lately from family and friends! Some were for me, but most were for our little girl! And no I'm not going to post pictures of everything...I promise!

My brother and sis in law got baby girl Whelan a beautiful sign for her nursery. It looks so good in there already! I'm waiting to put up a few little shelves so I can properly display it! They also got me a charm for my Pandora bracelet. Sweet pearls!! I love it!

One of my mama's co-workers who is expecting her first baby in April gave me this. :)

Our neighbors, Katie and Kyle, gave us the cutest ruffle butt bloomers!

And Mama picked out these adorable outfits! Seersucker and corduroy...I'm in love!

Oh and my Mom and Dad brought me this little sweater that my Nanny bought me to wear home from the hospital. It is precious!!

Matt, Blakely, and I hang out in the nursery every single night! I had been rained on and it was a long day...so excuse my tiredness! :)

Getting ready for our baby girl is super fun!
