A Heart like His

Oh, to have a heart like His...one patterned after my God's heart, like David's was at this time in his life.

David was humble, accountable, worshipful, cooperative, hopeful, dedicated, and just. He was a righteous king and an effective administrator. He was an initiator of relationships: kind, loving, accepting, restoring, and welcoming. He was sympathetic, protective, and defensive against wrong things done to his people.

I look at those virtues and wonder what it would be like if I applied them all in my life at my job, in my home, everything that I'm involved in. That is what I am striving for. I would love to have just a few of these outstanding virtues. And for some reason, the word restoring sticks out to me.

I have gotten so much out of my David study in just 6 short weeks. And there is still so much more to cover.

Who am I, that you have brought me this far????? That is my prayer today!! One song that I heard recently in church was Heal the Wound, but leave the scar....and it touched me. I love it and who knew that it was a Point of Grace song? I love them as well. Enjoy.

It's been awhile...

we've been super busy, but I'll be catching up soon.

We attended two awesome church services, and spent time with family that was in town.

We were LOVING the warm, breezy beautiful weather...and stayed outside as much as possible today.

Blakely loved the sunny March Sunday too.

Have a blessed Monday!!

Psalm 6:9
The LORD has heard my cry for mercy; the LORD accepts my prayer.

Lately

I've been so bad about blogging. The last few days have been filled with working, getting caught up on work, and friends.

I have been making sure to get plenty of rest lately too. There is no better thing that cuddling up to a golden retriever.

Oh yeah, and this man! :)

We went out for Mexican last night with the 4 seasons and frusbands...translation (great girl friends from grad school and their husbands)!! Our favorite place to eat recently added a second floor and brand new balcony. As always, we laughed, sang, discussed education, and had some serious talks too. LOVE my 4 seasons.

Stronger

Psalm 145:13
For your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom. You rule throughout all generations.
The Lord always keeps his promises; he is gracious in all he does.

This verse was talked about in my David lesson tonight.Beth wrote about feeling unsettled and waiting to feel like we fit in or have a place somewhere. When we finally get settled we can see God's faithfulness in our lives. As I look back at my own life, I realize that it is so true. Situations that I thought would never look up or be what I expected, now are. And of course, I am still feeling "unsettled" in a few areas of my life. But I will cling to the verse above and know that God is gracious and that HE ALWAYS KEEPS HIS PROMISES. If you're reading this, I hope that you will too.

Bravo TV

Is my go to channel these days....even though my beloved Zoe isn't on right now.

I am quite addicted to all of the Real Housewives...doesn't matter which one it is. But my REAL favorite (After RZP) started last night (which thanks to some killer pain meds, I was able to watch pain free), Bethenny Ever After. I love it so! She is really funny to me! And Brynn is adorable.
Do y'all watch?

Yard Work, a Solemn Assembly, and headaches.

Pretty much sums up our weekend! We spent most of the days outdoors pulling weeds and laying pinestraw. It was so peaceful and beautiful out, we just couldn't soak up enough of the sunshine! We also made our way around town to NeSmith's Nursery, dropped off some items at the Antique Fair for Junior League, CVS pharmacy, Publix (where we picked up some girl scout cookies from one of my best former students:)), and we even squeezed in a Sonic run.

Our pastor recently called our church to a day of fasting and a solemn assembly like mentioned in Joel 1:14 and 2:12-17.

Joel 2:12-17 (New Living Translation)

A Call to Repentance
12 That is why the Lord says,
“Turn to me now, while there is time.
Give me your hearts.
Come with fasting, weeping, and mourning.
13 Don’t tear your clothing in your grief,
but tear your hearts instead.”
Return to the Lord your God,
for he is merciful and compassionate,
slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love.
He is eager to relent and not punish.
14 Who knows? Perhaps he will give you a reprieve,
sending you a blessing instead of this curse.
Perhaps you will be able to offer grain and wine
to the Lord your God as before.
15 Blow the ram’s horn in Jerusalem!
Announce a time of fasting;
call the people together
for a solemn meeting.
16 Gather all the people—
the elders, the children, and even the babies.
Call the bridegroom from his quarters
and the bride from her private room.
17 Let the priests, who minister in the Lord’s presence,
stand and weep between the entry room to the Temple and the altar.
Let them pray, “Spare your people, Lord!
Don’t let your special possession become an object of mockery.
Don’t let them become a joke for unbelieving foreigners who say,
‘Has the God of Israel left them?’”

Well, yesterday was the day. It was an urgent call for all the members of our church to come together to humble ourselves before the Lord, to seek His face, to pray, to repent of our sins, to read God's word aloud, to worship the Lord with all of our hearts, and to make some important confessions together. We definitely did that...we all cried out to God. It was a sweet time in our church family. It was a unique and beautiful experience. Our pastor was very serious about it and he thought that it was the perfect time to step up, confess some things, fix our priorities, and be restored.
We were on our way to church...a little bit hungry from fasting all day. But ready to worship God in a new way. (Also excited how Brother Dan is relating everything to my current Bible Study...so cool).

I was also able to get completely caught up on my David study. And set out all of my "green" decor! And then the excruciating headaches hit and halted my plans. They are awful, headaches like I have never experienced. In the past week I've missed a dinner, a brunch, and Sunday School because of them. Praying that my Dr. will figure out something today! I hope that everyone had a sunny and relaxing weekend!

Joel 1:14 ESV
Consecrate a fast; call a solemn assembly. Gather the elders and all the inhabitants of the land to the house of the Lord your God, and cry out to the Lord.

In my head...

You know of my great love for Christy Knockels right? The lyrics to this song are true in my life and SO uplifting. I love the word FAITHFUL! It is one of my favorites when describing my God.

Thank you, Lord!
