Rain is a good thing...

I think rain is headed our way. Maybe in the forecast for the next few days. I am excited about it (even though I'll miss the beautiful spring-like days). Rain is refreshing and soothing to me!

Because as Luke Bryan sings, "Start washin' all our worries down the drain. Rain is a good thing. Yea where I come from, rain is a good thing."

I am ready for the rain to wash away my worries and my sickness too. :) I am FINALLY feeling better. I am taking penicillin and vicodin on a semi-decent schedule. So hopefully that is helping. I missed my League meetings tonight. I am so sad, we were going to sign up for committees tonight, so hopefully some that I want to serve on will still be available. My body literally hurts from being in bed for so long. This side table/tv tray was my companion over the last few days.

We needed something easy and fast to make for supper tonight. And we are running very low on groceries since we were out of town this weekend and I haven't really felt like getting out. So it needed to be something with basic ingredients. I looked up "french toast casserole" out of the blue, a simple version that you bake and eat quickly...unlike Paula Deen's and a few others that I saw. I also just used whole wheat sandwich bread, since that is what we had. It turned out great!!

I guess we were feeling sentimental tonight and decided to use our trusty BRIDE and GROOM Tervis tumblers! Ha!

I am ready to get back into the swing of things tomorrow. Thank you, Jesus!

Psalm 18:20-24 (The Message)
God made my life complete when I placed all the pieces before him. When I got my act together, he gave me a fresh start. Now I'm alert to God's ways; I don't take God for granted. Every day I review the ways he works; I try not to miss a trick. I feel put back together, and I'm watching my step. God rewrote the text of my life when I opened the book of my heart to his eyes.

Loves...

I sure do have a lot more time on my hands to blog when I'm home all day. Here is the rest of my day: Abigail stopped by and visited for awhile this afternoon. Her sister, AnnaBeth, stayed home from school today also, with the same thing I have. I was feeling better about that time.

I added a few decorations to my already "GREEN" house today! 2 simple things that didn't require any energy or focus.

This is what I had for dinner, on my back porch. I love cereal for supper! Matty actually cooked himself hamburger steak and brocolli. I was watching Matt trying to outrun Blakely. Matt is fast, but Blakely is one fast dog! :)

Getting ready for the final episode of season 2!!!! If you have not watched this show. You should. If you like womens sports that is, or a good drama. And I also heart Candace Cameron Bure. It all started years ago with my obsession of Full House and DJ. :)

I also love clean sheets! Ours are in the dryer now.

Looking at portraits! They are even more real than a photograph, which I also love! Overall, I just love memories!

The windows open!

Burning candles...

The sound of the LOUD crickets mixed with country music drifting through the air! Matt is currently playing guitar (Dave Matthews and Jason Mraz...not country but will do) outside on the porch and I can faintly hear it through the open windows. What a sweet sound!

Don't forget to tune into ABC Family at 9pm!

And the Oscar goes to...

My favorite!!! Yay!

So proud of Sandra and The Blind Side.

Did y'all see Cameron Diaz? If Rachel Zoe didn't style her, then I don't know my favorite stylist. The dress looks like RZ to me.

In other Whelan household happenings,

I am home from school sick. I am finally feeling a little bit better. Really, I just couldn't lay in bed any longer. My main problem is not being able to hold anything down. This is a downside, because I am taking a lot of medicine and need to eat food to be able to take the meds. This is my first sick day all year. I HATE to miss! And I didn't even get to sleep in. I was up...sick most of the night, and then typed up reminders about our field trip tomorrow for my support to send home (on colored paper at 5am) and some other bus reminders and a lesson plan "cheat sheet" for the day.

I also am going to have to miss Bible Study tonight which I also HATE. I just hate to miss out on things I'm involved in.

We went out of town this weekend, so I need to try and muster up the strength to finish some laundry this afternoon.

Things to be thankful for on this sick day of mine:
1. I am not running a fever anymore.
2. Matt is not sick..yet!
3. It is beautiful out and I do have our bedroom windows open (trying to get rid of germs)
4. That I have a sweet puppy to keep me company.
5. That the Make it or Break it Season Finale comes on tonight. Love that show!
6. That I'm learning about the three R's to wisdom in my BS: Request it, Revere God, and Receive counsel.

The wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, unwavering, without hypocrisy. James 3:17

My lUcKy Day!

I had a meeting with 7 other K teachers and 8 other 1st grade teachers in my school system today at our board office. We were meeting to help vertically align the curriculum between the two grades. It was so great to get into my "grad school mode" and be with other smart adults. Even though I did wonder what my babies were doing all day and how they were behaving.

The highlight of the meeting was several 1st grade teachers quoting Madea the entire time!! I was laughing so hard that I was crying! I miss my old GP friends...didn't realize it, but I really do! And it gets better, I got to come home for lunch!!!! And we got out an hour earlier than our school usually ends!!!! SCORE! It was a beautiful day to top it all off!!!

Church softball starts up tonight. Matt is at practice as we speak! I'm ready for his first game!

A little bit later. We are going here. To open mic night.

And I'm going to have this!!! Lucky me!

LOVIN that GREEN!!

My hometown is the little town of DUBLIN, GA! I am a proud alumni of DHS, home of the fighting Irish! There are shamrocks painted in the road, everyone wears green all March long, restaurants turn their food and drinks green, and we even have Leprecauhn contests! I say all that to let you know how much I LOVE St. Patrick's Day and the month of March in general.

I thought I'd share some of my St. Patty's Day decorations. I am definitely just starting my collection. I have my eye on several plates, yard decorations, and wreaths. Also, my mama always gets a shamrock plant for her kitchen table. When I get a kitchen table, I hope to get a shamrock plant too!

I also wanted to mention how thankful I am for the little things lately. Today I was thinking about how thankful I am for our house, and GARAGE. We didn't have one at our old house, and rainy days/cold mornings were rough. We have so much extra storage space now too! Here it is:

The LORD will provide what is good. -Psalm 85:12

Today is your day!

Your mountain is waiting. So... get on your way. ~Dr. Suess

In honor of Dr. Seuss' bday, I thought I'd post my favorite book by him...or at least one of them.

There are so many inspirational quotes in this book. My parents gave it to me when I graduated college. And, I read it to my babies the day they graduate K. It really is true about life! Love it!

We had lots of guest readers at school today. It was March Mom's read around the school day. I love my mama's! While one mom was reading, my principal and assistant principal (dressed as thing 1 and thing 2) burst into my classroom...running from the cat in the hat. Here are some pictures! My kids were shocked! I'll admit, I was too. They also stood out at the car pick-up line greeting all the kids...jumping and carrying on! Lol!

Every year, we have an amazing play that our media specialist and several other teachers put on. It is different every year. This year it involved my P and AP again (thing 1 and thing 2) and they were so funny! They did cartwheels and flips!!!

My kids also ate these for lunch. Yep, green eggs and ham. Really fun, but also really gross. :)

Overall, a GREAT day! And tonight is even better. I am warm and cozy (another rainy day in GA...imagine that) with my hubby! We are watching Idol and Biggest Loser!

Psalm 31:24
Be strong and take heart, all you who hope in the LORD.
