Wonderful Wednesday

My day consisted of this. Shopping is a love and passion of mine! :)

We were going to play this, but never got around to it. SAD! We're nerds! :)

Looking forward to a great Bible Study in the morning with women from my church and then an anniversary date with my husband!!

This night (and about this time) 4 years ago, I was staying in The Page House with these awesome girls. I was just hours away from becoming Mrs. Whelan. We were having the best time talking, eating, and being loud and giddy. I think Matt brought my friend Lauren and I some Diet Dr Pepper's around midnight. And I think we finally went to bed around 3am. Breakfast and hair appointments came too early that next day. Ahhh, memories!! I am grateful that my parents rented the house out for us. I would love to stay there again for a reunion! ha!

Pictures of bridal luncheon, rehearsal at church, rehearsal dinner, and after party! :)

1 Corinthians 13:4-8
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.

Wising Up

In my summer Bible Study...it's all about "getting us some wisdom," says Beth Moore.

I loved this point from last week.

You can be better at everything with the wisdom of God.

We learned about the difference between skillful living vs. train-wreck living. :)

2 key verses:
Proverbs 1:7
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction.

Proverbs 3:6
In all your ways, KNOW Him, and He will make your paths straight.

Tuesday Thoughts

Well y'all, this might be the most random post that I've ever written. I had almost 3 hours in a dental chair to sit and ponder things. :) Sure, I watched CMT and HGTV while my mouth was being worked on, and chatted with some fun ladies at A Confident Smile when my jaw was allowed to rest. :) But mostly I just thought about all kinds of things.

By now, you know I love my dentist/all of her employees. If you get bored, they have a facebook page...just type in A Confident Smile. :)

I was pleased to know that they thought I bleach my teeth. I wish! They said that they could definitely tell that I don't drink much coffee or smoke. So that made me feel good. I got the lightest colored crown. If you have to get a crown, you at least want it to be the lightest shade I think.

I had to take a pic of my numb mouth using self timer (which I just learned how to do). I had 3 shots and it really affected my speech. I was slurring and looking very goofy, talking to people on the way out. It didn't wear off until after 5 hours. Crazy huh?

Matt made us scrambled eggs and pancakes for supper. "Soft food." It was really good though.

We FINALLY put up our blinds in our bathrooms. Woo Hoo! Privacy!

I'm dreading unpacking, yet again. I wish my bags could unpack themselves.

We have been having thunderstorms every afternoon. So, Blakely, and I sit out on the front porch for entertainment. I usually have a book with me.

Look what I now have!! A surprise from my hubby, before I could even think about going to the store to get it!!

And just some cute pictures of Blakely lately. She is so spoiled that it is unreal. She is the best dog and I love her so!

I thought I'd complete this random post with this:
If I were given the opportunity to give a gift to the next generation, it would be the ability for each individual to learn to laugh at himself.
~ Charles Schulz

I got this inspirational quote from my Principal in an e-mail the other day. I can honestly say that I think my kids learned this from me this year. I would just die laughing every morning because without fail, I would drop something, knock something off of my board, or hit what was on my chart in the middle of my lesson...every single morning (or at least most). We would all laugh, and say that it wasn't "Circle Time" without me being clumsy!! Haha! We laughed off a lot of tense moments and sad moments. We learned that things aren't as serious as they feel in the moment. And boy did we laugh hard! Loved my 09-10 class!!

The First Day of Summer...

brought something exciting (for Matt) and new to the Whelan household...
Matty got his new "business" laptop. He was thrilled. He just so happened to be home for lunch when it got delivered. I captured him opening it and turning it on for the first time. :) He really was so happy! He's wanted one for a long time.

I caught this sweet golden retriever taking a summer rest.

My lunch of a horse pill!

I'm reading this online...Karen Kingsbury's short story that ties into the First Born Series(one of my all time favorites)!

Eagerly anticipating this book hitting stores tomorrow.

Last night...

It was raining sooo hard and we heard a loud boom come from the front of our house near the office. Turns out, the top of a tall tree fell and luckily, barely hit our roof and siding. Thankfully, no damage was done. But it was still a bit scary.

You can see Matt checking out the air condintioning unit. We are grateful that the tree missed that too.

Psalm 4:8
I will lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety.

Father's Day Weekend.

I went out of town this weekend to spend Father's Day with my original family :), Mama, Daddy, and Billy. We really missed Matt and Miranda, but it definitely seemed like old times!

Before I left Matt and I went on a little "weekdate", as we like to call week day dates.

I headed out of town right after my Bible Study ended on Thursday. When I got to my house, my Dad and I brought my luggage in, had a snack, and watched a little tv. My mama was at a friends house playing some kind of card game for 6 hours. :) When she got home we all watched a movie together, which was fun, and I had a nice big Sonic Vanilla Diet Coke. Then on Friday, Mama and I headed to Hobby Lobby for some shopping. Everything we bought was majorly on sale. We also ate a light lunch of soup and salads at Cheddar's.

My brother arrived Friday afternoon and we all watched a really good movie together. My Dad gets Netflix so we always have lots of movies to watch. We were getting out my mama's decorations and my brother wanted his accounting book in the picture since it matched.

Saturday we ran some errands around town and had a nice family dinner. Daddy loves ice cream cake, so we celebrated Father's Day a little early with a sweet treat.

*Note I look horrible...no makeup and this was taken really late at night because we were watching the U.S. Open...golf is permanently on the tv at my parents house.

I drove back this morning to spend a little bit of the weekend with my sweet Hubby. It is raining so hard right now, I love it! I tried to get a picture of how hard the rain was coming down, but it is hard to tell. It is sooo cozy inside though.

I am so thankful that I got to spend time with the best Daddy a girl could ask for today. I love him so much! Everyone says that we look just alike and if you know us well, we have so many similar personality traits. I am a Daddy's girl. And my Mama was just thrilled to have us all home together. I cherish every moment that I get to spend with the greatest parents ever. I love them so much! Daddy is truly the smartest man I know. He is very wise, and helpful. We count on him for help and tips on everything around here. From computers, to finances, taxes, lawn care, fixing things, EVERYTHING. He is great and I am blessed! Happy Father's Day, Daddy!

The house that built me...

I'm at home, visiting with my family this weekend. I've been here for a few days and it has been great. I'll post about my visit when I make it back down to SGA. We're just being lazy, shopping, eating, and spending all of our time together...having a great time!

I love my small town hometown and I love my amazing neighborhood (that I grew up in)! This song brings up lots of memories that I have in this house and it is very meaningful to me. Luckily, my parents still live in it...unlike the song. I'm praising God right now for His blessings, His peace, and His faithfulness.
