Last Thursday, two of my aunts decided to bring my Nanny Jane up to visit me. She hadn't seen our new house, and it would also give my Poppy Bill a chance to rest. Yesterday actually marks 1 year since NJ had her fall. They drove up from the Orlando area and made it here in the late afternoon. My mom and dad came down to see them and so did my brother and his girlfriend. Two of my cousins came too. It was soooo much fun. We love getting company and it was a very special get together.
My cousin, Jillian, made me laugh because everything that she ate was "the best she ever had." Her favorites included, cherry limeade, banana pudding, and a 4th of July fruit salad. I hardly got any pictures from the weekend. I was able to snap a few of everyone hanging out on Thursday night. It was rainy and a good night to all be together at home.
Saturday we got up and ate lunch in Tally at The Red Elephant. Again, the pizza there was "the best Jillian ever had." We toured the FSU campus, because my cousin, Lindsay, wants to go there, and my Aunt Leisa, graduated from it in Education.
We ate downtown on Saturday night at George and Louie's and then browsed the shops since it was First Friday/Downtown Nights and everything was open late. The weather was cool and breezy. We had a great time! I found some shoes that I would love to get for "back to school." :)
My family left early on Sat. morning. I was sooooo sad to see them go. I loved every minute of having them here. I also loved the feeling of our full house! All of the rooms were occupied and every couch too! :)
Last week, my grad girls and I had a summer reunion at our favorite Mexican place in SGA. We deep dished, laughed, and caught up on everyone's lives. Baby Claire joined us...Betsy had her in April and it was the first time that everyone met her.
After our girl talk, the 4 seasons shopped in Valdosta. We went to TJ Maxx, Belk's, and Publix. We tried on shoes, used a buggy to carry all of our purses, and braved a huge thunderstorm.
We decided to pass on Texas Roadhouse ribs for supper;) and have a cookout at Jennifer's instead. Bridgett insisted on a movie too, so we rented Leap Year.
It was so fun. We ended up huddled in the office, sitting on the floor, laughing and talking until it was time to eat. The food was delicious. There were so many people there that Jenn tagged each plate with a post-it. Ha!!
Good thing the movie was one that you could talk through and still know what was happening. We did have to stop and rewind it about 10 times. I'm always so thankful for time with my 4 seasons and grad girls. Thank you Jesus, for bringing these girls into my life. :)
Happy Fourth of July! Well, I'm a few days late, but we've been in Atlanta celebrating Independence Day and our nephew, Luke's, birthday. We had a few unexpected things pop up, and couldn't leave as early as we had planned on Saturday, which was a let down. We also wanted to stop in several places to catch up with friends on the way to Atlanta and in the city, but were running short on time, unfortunately.
I listened to this song the entire drive. Luckily, I brought my headphones along.
We spent Saturday night with family...and spent time eating a nice meal, catching up with family, playing corn hole (Matt's new favorite game), and playing with our niece and nephew. We gave Luke a chef outfit and grill for his 3rd bday. He kept on wanted to cook peppers from the garden. He also put his grill in the oven. We didn't know it until someone turned the oven on and smelled burning plastic. Haha!! He will keep you on your toes.
Sunday we went to church and heard the Pipeline Band at West Cobb Church, and they were amazing. It was an emotional time of worship for us, they sang lots of Hillsong, which we love, but Matt's heart was aching for his best friend, who recently lost his dad and is going through some hard times. Prayers would be appreciated for my sweet hubby and his friend.
We ate sandwiches for lunch back at Bekah's and sat out by the pool. It was very relaxing and fun to watch Luke swim.
Around dinner time, Harper fell asleep in Matt's arms, so I got to hold her while everyone ate. I love holding her...she is so cute! After I ate and everyone was ready, we headed out to watch fireworks. We ate cobbler, watched the fireworks, and also watched Luke open some of his presents.
When we got home, we sat and talked with Matt's cousin, aunt, Dad, and Ellen. We were trying to decide on some plans for the next day and everyone was in a silly mood.
We went and "toured" downtown Atl on Monday. We ate lunch at a mexcian restaurant called Tijuana Garage. We got back in time to spend a few minutes with Matt's sisters, Luke, and Harper before we had to head back south. We had a good drive home with no traffic...which we were a little worried about. All in all, I felt like we packed a lot into one weekend!! Sadly, my summer feels like it is slipping away. :) I am thankful for all of the things that God is teaching me this summer. I feel like He is constantly revealing wisdom to me.
We celebrated our 4th anniversary on Thursday, June 24th. Our engagement anniversary was actually June 26th. I did a show us your life post on our reception last year. Click here to read.
We were planning on going out of town to eat supper. But Matt had a long day at work, so we opted for LongHorn here in town.
We had red velvet cupcakes for dessert.
We give traditional anniv. gifts. And the 4th is fruit and flowers. We both ran with the flower theme. However, I did have a few fruity surprises up my sleeve for my hubby too. He loves jelly beans, so I got him the fruit basket mix for all his drive time at work. I also made him a list of things that make him sweet, tied to a pineapple (his favorite fruit). We laughed so hard at the things that I came up with.
Matt got a new pinecone, the "flower" of the pine tree for his office.
I got a leather flower bracelet.
I love being married and am so thankful for the man that God brought into my life when I was just an 18 yr old girl! :) (These pics taken after our 1 year dating anniversary on a trip to St. Simons Island)
Once again I am playing catch up. I'm going to post about our 4 yr anniversary and my super fun Friday with friends. But first I thought I'd recap our weekend. We have really just been working around the house and hanging out...fine with me!
Saturday I came across this sticker on a car. I loved it! I'm ready for Eclipse to come out on Wednesday. It says, "I drive like a Cullen." :)
Today we went to Sunday School and Church. Then we worked the sign up booth for our 4th of July mission projects. A lot of people were signing up. I love serving in our church.
We took a few pictures today after church. We had a fun afternoon watching Lifetime. :) And Matt was able hit a few golfballs before our afternoon thunderstorm hit. We love summertime!
We went over this verse in SS. 1 Corinthians 7:32a I want you to be free from anxieties.
Well, I've been watching the World Cup lately and LOVE it. BUT not nearly as much as I love my Women's U.S. National team. Especially the 99 World Cup team. I might have been a little obsessed and I may or may not still be. :) I went to games, practices, have my picture with most of them and a lot of autographs. I have their uniform, I had the cereal they ate, the drinks they drank, and basically EVERY game, interview, and appearance on tape. I know random facts about each player and can recognize them anywhere.
I pulled out a few tapes today, from that glorious summer of 1999. I was just a young high school teenager, cheering specifically for Carla Overbeck (the captain and #4). While watching the games, I came across lots of my favorite commercials that I forgot all about.
Found them on you tube. Enjoy!! (At least my family will appreciate this, they had to put up with me and my out of control fandom! They did grow to love the team as much as I did though.)
This might sum up some of my feelings! Love these women! What wonderful role models. So glad they were mine!
US US USA This is my game. This is my future. Watch me play!! :)
I am a wife, teacher, grad student, and wanna-be mama :) The Lord is my strength in everything and He guides me every step of the way through this crazy, busy time in my life.
