Atlanta, Roses and the 4th!

We went to Atlanta last weekend to celebrate our nephew, Luke. He was born on the 4th of July and he turned 5 yesterday. :)

We actually arrived Friday night at a decent hour...just before 9pm. That NEVER happens. Rachel, Matt, and I walked down to the Marietta square and listened to a band that was playing. It was so fun, but also very hot! Matt had to get ice cream, of course.

Saturday morning we got up and walked back to the square to go to the farmers market. I LOVED it! Ice pops, flowers, peaches. I wanted it all! :) We also stopped in a few cute shops.

We made a few stops on the way to Bekah's house to get ready for Luke's birthday party. We helped with a few last minute party details, then the fun began. It was fun to watch Luke and his friends play because most of them will be going into kindergarten this year. It made me think a lot about my upcoming class and what they will be like. The party was great, but the temperature broke an Atlanta record as being the hottest day in history. I think it was 107 degrees. We ended up staying at Bekah's house until almost 11pm. I got to read Luke 2 stories before "bedtime" and that was really sweet. Of course he wanted me to read even more...haha!

Sunday Matt and I got up and drove a short 15 minutes to Passion City Church which I've now deemed as our Atlanta home church....or our churh away from home. LOVED IT! We got there a little bit after 10 and got great seats. Amazingly I didn't cry this time!! (Just the night before when I couldn't sleep because of excitment...I cried, "Thank you Matt for taking me to PCC again!" Ha!) I tried to capture the pure joy that I felt as we arrived!!!!

Chris Tomlin, Matt Mehar, and AUDREY ASSAD led worship. I was absolutely SHOCKED to see Audrey up on stage, but in a GREAT way. I LOVE her music and have both of her cds, follow her on twitter, you know, I think she is amazing! Matt and I love the lyrics to her songs, she is a gifted writer. Even though my Christy Nockels that I love so much didn't lead worship, we noticed that her husband, Nathan Nockels, was playing the keyboard. He is such a great musician and it was fun to see him up there leading worship.

And YES, it is true. BETH MOORE preached the "WORD" series that day. We were already planning on going when we found out she would be there, since Louie was at Hillsong. So I was EXCITED and READY all week!!! Even though PCC has 3 services in the summer, the house was packed. People were standing and sitting on the floor. As always, Beth delivered a fresh word. Very powerful. (I was a chicken and got no pictures of her speaking. Ugh!! A man in front of me did and I really wanted to ask him to take one for me. :))

After church we went back to Rachel's house, ate sandwiches, and squeezed in a bit more family time. It was a good day! We love our niece and nephew so much and wish that we could see them more. Harper takes after me in her love for jewelry. She had some rings that she carried around all weekend...sooo sweeet!

Now, our 4th of July. Matt actually had the day off so he kindly helped me work on a few house projects. We also got some relaxation in though. Then last night, we had our friends, the Jense's, over to cookout. We didn't leave the house until close to 9 and tried our luck at the rose garden, you know, since we live in the rose city. We found parking easily and could see the fireworks perfectly. It turned out to be a great place to be....surrounded by roses, pretty trees, and Cherokee lake behind us.

Have a blessed day!

Charleston

Yes, it's true. I was living my dreams last week in Charleston. Y'all I have so many pictures that I'm completely overwhelmed. We had a glorious, relaxing, PERFECT little getaway. We needed it so bad and never just pick up and go on vacation...just the two of us. I loved it!

We visited Charleston and ate most of our meals there. We stayed just over the bridge in Mount Pleasant in the sweetest neighborhood at a bed and breakfast that was just beautiful! We took advantage of the club there...clay tennis courts and pools galore...two of my loves if you know me. We (Matt) golfed at Wild Dunes Resort, and we enjoyed lazy beach time at Isle of Palms and Sullivan's Island. We went by Folly Beach and John's island for Matt to see the angel oak. I LOVED shopping and browsing on King Street, but I was pretty pleased with the cute shops that Mount Pleasant had to offer as well. Don't even get me started on the beautiful homes and all the window boxes, flowers, and greenery. Oh and the churches...AMAZING!

Stopped in High Cotton before we walked around the open air market and ate lunch at Magnolias.

Watching the Dolphins in Shem Creek while we ate at Red's Icehouse.

Where we spent our actual 6 year anniversary. GORGEOUS!!!!! I'm in love with Isle of Palms, yes I am.

The cozy Inn at I'on.

Anniversary dinner at Blossom.

Wild Dunes golf.

An evening at the I'on Club.

Cute little restaurants on Sullivans Island...I never got a picture of Poe's.

Dinner dates and late night porch dates...two of our favorite things anyway...but in Charleston, even more special!

Last morning! Right before breakast at the Inn.

Rainy and cool shopping on King Street. Matt ran into Darious Rucker. He was thrilled!

The angel oak.

Just a few more favorites. I found the best radio station there. They played all of my Selah, Christy Nockels, and Passion favorites. I was very impressed!

I love everything about the lowcountry. Can't wait to celebrate there in the Spring with friends!

Frame It!

I have a million things to frame, but I NEVER get around to it. Maybe if I blog about them, it will finally happen.

A handwritten recipe card from my Nanny.

My wedding invitation. About time huh? :)

The lyrics to our "wedding" song. It was sung right before we got married. We chose it because we felt like it set the tone for our wedding...a time of worship. And the words describe how we wanted and still want to live our lives. I LOVE IT!

A beautiful print that we just got.

Our story or something like the street names or cities that are important. I want to put these up in our Pickin' Shed (bonus room) Have y'all seen these on Pinterest?

PROJECTS, PROJECTS, PROJECTS! I better check and see when frames go on sale at Hobby Lobby.
